Tools and Hardware Reviews of Schlage BE365VCAM619 Camelot Keypad Deadbolt, Satin NickelCustomer Review: Great Lock. Easy to install/use Summary: 5 Stars
I helped a friend of mine install this lock on his house, and after seeing how well it worked I decided I had to have one. I received my lock right as I was about to leave the house. Of course, I decided I wanted to put it on first though. Luckily, this lock is quick and easy to install. It didn't take more than a couple minutes. I erased the pre-programed codes just to be safe, and set up a few of my own. I've had this lock on for a couple weeks and it's worked flawlessly so far.
I'd definitely recommend this product!
Customer Review: Excellent Lock with Overly Complicated Directions Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my brother's new house since he hates carrying around extra keys. Awesome product, but the installation directions are overly and unnecessarily complicated. We replaced a standard deadbolt, so the holes were already in the door and installatin was easy (once we stopped trying to follow the directions). Comes with pre-set entry codes, but you can reprogram to whatever you want which is handy. Reprogramming is easy. Bought the Satin Nickel finish because it matched his door knob - it looks great.
Customer Review: Buyer beware. Weak link is the standard key and pin/tumbler setup Summary: 3 Stars
I installed one of these for a client and it seems to be a good product as all the reviewers say. What no one has talked about however is the standard Shlage key that can also be used to open the lock. It seems to me that this would allow the possibility of using a "bump key" to open it. One of the benefits of digital locks is their immunity to bumping. If you want the keypad just for convenience, that is fine. Just remember that any lock that can be "bumped" provides zero security.
Customer Review: Works exactly as advertised! Summary: 5 Stars
The bolt may be a little bigger than standard, but that's good, right? The install is almost like a regular lock... no big deal. The operation is rock solid. It didn't mention it in the product description but I believe this lock is bump resistant. (The lock mechanism is not directly connected to the cylinder unless you insert the key and apply pressure.)
This was definitely worth it, especially since more "bump proof" locks are ~$120 anyway. You can't beat a Schlage!
Customer Review: Nice to not carry keys anymore. Summary: 5 Stars
Product is excellent for our rear patio entry. Not having to bring keys when walking the dog is now possible. Just have to remember the codes and all is well. Very easy installation if your door is already prepped for the standard size 2-3/8" but it's adjustable to 2-3/4" (door edge to center of hole). It was also nice that the satin nickel matched perfectly with our existing door handle. Thinking about installing one for the front door also as soon as it goes on sale again.
