Tools and Hardware Reviews of Schlage BE365VPLY505 Plymouth Keypad Deadbolt, Bright BrassCustomer Review: Excellent product worth the money Summary: 5 Stars
I was really glad I chose this keyless entry for my workshop. I've dealt with Schlage products for almost 30 years now. The instructions are extremely easy and all their door knobs have quality in them. Their customer service is wonderful even if you have any kind of problem with their product way down the road. I had so many problems with the Kwikset brand. They have too much plastic in them and they wear out quickly. When ever I buy a new home, I change all the enterior and entry door knobs to Schlage. I've only had 1 problem in the past 30 years and Schlage customer service fixed my problem right away even though the knob was over 5 years old at the time. This door knob has quality written all over it (and you can definently tell it wasn't made in China). Now I don't have to find my keys when I want to go into my workshop. This product is well worth the money.
Customer Review: Install does not require non-standard holes in the door Summary: 5 Stars
The other reviews all sound about right to me, i.e. this product is great! I love it! I just wanted to point out that when I was considering buying it I almost didn't because I rent and I didn't want to put two screw holes in my (landlord's) door. In the photo, there are two screws clearly visible in weird positions. Turns out that they are machine screws that go into a back plate held in place entirely by the normal type of screws that hold door locks together. So no worries about that. Also note that the screws are on the inside as is the battery. You don't want some tweaker to take apart your door lock to steal the 9V battery (included btw) and this lock prevents that.
You can install this lock in 15 minutes pretty easily and put it back to the way it was when you move out. I'm looking forward to taking this lock with me where ever I live!
Customer Review: Best One that I have installed Summary: 5 Stars
I have had this deadbolt for bout a year and I love it. It is th best one that I have come across (and yes - the most expensive - but you get what you pay for). It is eye-catching rather than an eye-sore. Be careful, some of the cheaper competitor's models have a plastic back that is very unappealing for a main door. The unit is smaller than many by requiring only a 9 volt battery because it does not lock/unlock the deadbolt for you. You do it manually.
Pros:
1) Appealing design (front and back - no plastic)
2) Smaller than most (due to use of 9v battery)
3) Keypad lights up when you touch it for nighttime entry
4) Never get locked out. Give the neighbor a temporary code to get in.
Cons:
1) Pricey ut you get what you pay for
Customer Review: Excellent alternative to traditional keyed deadbolt Summary: 5 Stars
Decided to convert a Schlage key deadbolt to this design based on desire for 1.) sticking with Schlage to be consistnet with keysets in the rest of the house 2.)logic of the design, 3.)ease of installation.
We were very pleased with the product. It is well-constructed, and the key backup plus manual flip feature makes the battery failure problem a non-issue. So, it is a winner on #1 and #2. We decided to call in a professional locksmith with whom we have done much business with over the years to do the installation, though. It took him about 25 minutes, but went fast because he could use the same hole and offsets. He was also happy with the design and construction.
Highly recommended. We will be installing more units in other locations.
Customer Review: Excellent lock eliminates need for keys and improves access control Summary: 5 Stars
I am buying a second lock for the door between my garage and my house. With this lock you no longer have to carry house keys and can't lock yourself out of the house (a frequent problem for one member of our household). You can program in a code anytime you might need to leave a key for someone and then delete it when it is no longer needed. And when you leave a single button allows the knob to engage and lets you lock the door. It couldn't be easier to use, or program, or install. I often find myself a bit irritated by the occasional poor design feature in otherwise good products, but I haven't found even a small irritant with this deadbolt. I would recommend it to anyone that wants to eliminate a key from the lives.
