Customer Review: Don't Tile Without It!!!

I've been tiling for a number of years, but have always sub'ed out the shower pan... I decided to try this Schluter Kerdi after reading articles and the recommendations it was getting on online tile forums... With this product I was able to simply build my dry mud pan and then apply the Kerdi Membrane right over it... It was seriously so easy that I'm sure my wife could have handled it (and she's never laid a tile in her life :) No more hiring out sub's to hot mop and build mortar beds!!! This stuff is everything its been advertised as being able to do.. Goes on easy and very forgiving... Its almost kind of fun to install (almost)... Use it on your next tub/shower install... You won't be sorry... Just make sure to purchase the corners pieces, the seam band, water valve/diverter seal,and if your doing your own shower pan, use their drain (assuming you have to build a mud pan cause the pre-fab pan won't fit as was my case).. These are optional accessories, but I would highly recommend them especially if you are a novice at using Kerdi.
Description of Schluter Kerdi - 54 SQ FT
Schluter-KERDI is a bonded waterproof membrane with limited crack-bridging capabilities. It is made of soft polyethylene, which is covered on both sides with a special fleece webbing to anchor the membrane in the thin-set mortar. Schluter-KERDI was developed as a waterproofing membrane to be used in conjunction with ceramic and stone tile coverings. Tiles can be installed directly on Schluter-KERDI using the thin-bed method. Other trowel-applied covering materials, such as plaster, can also be used. Pre-cut sections of Schluter-KERDI are available for inside and outside corners, as well as for pipe collars. Use Schluter-KERDI-BAND, in widths of 5" (12.5 cm), 7-1/4" (18.5 cm), or 10" (25 cm) to seal butt joints or corner joints. Schluter-KERDI-FLEX, in 5" (12.5 cm) or 10" (25 cm) widths, is used to seal expansion joints or flexible edge joints.Accessories Tools
