Tools and Hardware Reviews of Scotts 2000-20 20-Inch Classic Push Reel Lawn MowerCustomer Review: DON'T BUY THIS...IT'S JUNK!!!!! Summary: 1 StarsI agree with all the previous reviews...it barely cuts, it has plastic gears, and the handle flexes so much it is VERY difficult to handle. It does not turn at all. And, I am short, but to push it I need to bend over half way to mow! Terrible! Very cheaply made...what a disappointment!
Customer Review: adequate mower Summary: 3 StarsThe mower was easy to put together and it looks nice. It feels a little flimsy in the handles when mowing. It does as good a job mowing as you can expect from this type of mower. Variable adjust height is easy to use. I wish it had come with a catcher specifically designed for it rather than having to adapt a generic catcher. Don't expect a perfect cut with one pass, but that's the nature of this type of machine. It is quiet and has sharp blades.
Customer Review: Good Reel Mower, Poor Handle Design / Materials Summary: 3 StarsI have been using this mower for about 2.5 years. Like most manual mowers, you need to mow more frequently because it will not cut tall grass and weeds. Having said this, the mower cuts our thick grass just fine. Occasionally I need to mow over an area twice to get an even cut, but I don't mind the exercise. I also have not sharpened it in over two years so I am probably due. The reason I rated this mower a three out of five stars is because of the handle design. The steel tubing used is too thin and the joint where the upper portion of the handle is bolted to the lower portion has now fatigued and cracked off on each side fron normal usage. I made a new handle out of heavier steel tubing which has fixed the problem, but for the amount I use it this should not have happened. Scott should also install plastic bushing in lower portion of the handle where it connects to pins on the mower body. This alone would make the mower much quieter to use since most of the noise comes from the handle rattling at this location. I haven't experienced any of the plastic gear issues other's have had on this site. Overall, it has been a decent mower for me. I would give it four stars if Scott fixes the handle issue.

Customer Review: Think twice... I wish I could. Summary: 2 StarsDreams are nice, but reality is a different story. I love the IDEA of this man-powered mower. The idea of quiet. The idea of no pollution. The idea of a good workout. Well, this mower delivers on all those things, but also something that I did not consider or want. Namely, the quality of the cut. This is a new mower with OLD technology. Picture the difference in quality between a letter printed on laser-jet vs. banged out on an old IBM typewriter. Basically, this 2009 mower does as a poor a job as the one I used 30+ years ago. You pretty much have to crisscross your lawn to get a decent cut it will still be uneven with LOTS of tall pieces poking through. So the workout is good, but the job takes MUCH longer than I wanted it to. And the result is tolerable, but not impressive.
As for the mower itself, I'm generally impressed with the quality of the reel, wheels and lower body. But the handle, as mentioned in other reviews, is a joke. It reminds me of a wire hanger.
Customer Review: Sticky wheels Summary: 2 Stars The problem with this mower is that the cutting blades do not turn easily. This results in a lot of skipping when you push it. The problem is compounded by the configuration of the junction of the blades and wheels which makes lubrication very difficult.
