We have owned our Scooba for three years and absolutely love our Scooba. Even though I love my Scooba I hate the battery because of its short life and how expensive it is to replace. I have ordered several replacement batteries from iRobot but had gotten frustrated with the amount of money we were spending on replacement batteries. I decided to take a chance on this replacement battery and I have been very happy that I did. The battery is only a fraction of the cost of the battery sold by iRobot but seems to work at least as well and maybe better. I have had the battery for almost 5 months and it is still working great.
One issue that I have seen raised related to this battery which I think may be in error is related to its larger size which allegedly causes Scooba to not seal properly causing Scooba to not suck up the water from the floor. After I got this battery I thought I was having this issue because my Scooba was not sucking up water from the floor. I measured this battery and compared it to the "factory" battery I had and it seemed to be an identical size so I was not sure if the battery could be causing the issue. I happended to be reading a bulletin board on Scooba and noticed owners talking about the tubes in their tanks getting clogged over time. I decided to take a chance and ordered a new tank for our Scooba and the new tank solved the problem!!! Based on my experience I believe these batteries might be erroneously blamed for this problem. If your Scooba is not picking up the water from the floor you may need a new tank. I am being more diligent with rinsing out all of the holes in my new tank.
My advice is to skip iRobot's "factory" battery because this battery seems to be just as good and a fraction of the price.
