Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sensible Solutions 3020 Storm Shield 20-Foot Garage Door ThresholdCustomer Review: GARAGE DOOR SEAL Summary: 4 StarsVery good garage door seal. Glue is adequate but could have better initial tackiness. Have something equal to the length of the seal to hold it in place while the glue sets. The door will probably not hold it down. The warmer the weather the easier it is to install. Overall this is a great seal. Would definitely purchase again.
Customer Review: Fairly Effective Summary: 3 StarsThis threshold keeps out very litte from blowing into the garage. It is somewhat difficult to install and almost impossible to keep in a straight line. There is not enough adhesive provided for the installation so be prepared to go to your hardware store or somewhere to purchase some additional adhesive. If you get the adhesive outside the boundaries of the threshold it is quite a chore to clean up. On the plus side, the threshold is still firmly in place after about six months.
Customer Review: Works well for me. Summary: 4 StarsI bought this product to help seal out mice from getting into my garage. I had some settling in the floor of the garage that provided an opportunity for the critters to squeeze under the door. I used this to help alleviate the gap and it has worked. It was a little difficult doing by myself, but I managed ok. Gluing and unrolling the threshold was a challenge for 1 person, I suggest asking someone to assist you with the installation. The sealant they supplied worked fine for me, I haven't had any issues with it as some other reviewers have noted. All in all, a good product and fairly easy installation.
Customer Review: Great product. Wish it was cheaper, but quality costs money Summary: 5 StarsQuality: The quality of the product is superb. I don't expect this threshold to deteriorate with exposure to the sun, water, and ice it will get here in Minnesota. The black vinyl is VERY heavy-duty.
Application: follow the instructions - do a "dry" layout without putting the adhesive down, cut to length/fit if needed, use a pencil to trace inside and outside of the threshold, then apply the included construction adhesive inside the pencil lines **You will need your own caulk gun** and place the threshold over adhesive. walk on the threshold to make sure it is properly set, then shut the garage door for a bit while the adhesive hardens.
Tips: Bring the threshold inside and unwind it overnight before you install it. Mine was a little difficult to work with (40 degrees outside didn't help). Don't cut a huge hole in the end of the construction adhesive (if you haven't caulked anything before, just try to cut 1/8th inch off the tip). Make sure both ends make good contact with your garage floor (extra adhesive, make sure garage floor is really clean near the door track).
Results: I installed this product because my garage floor actually slopes INTO my garage, causing a few bird baths every time it rains or snows. After adjusting the closing force of the door, putting in extra weatherstripping on the underside of the garage door, installing gutters over the garage, and threatening to sue the builder of my house (still considering that one)... This product has completely solved my problem, and is much cheaper than having my garage floor re-poured.
Downside: My daughter can't escape from the garage with her wagon/stroller. Not sure if this is a bad thing :)
Customer Review: Best Bang for Your Buck! Summary: 5 StarsI listened to other reviews and used liquid nails instead of the provided glue. Works great. I am not battling legions of crickets and spiders in my garage anymore. Also works great at keeping dirt and rain out. This item is the lowest price I could find on the net. I cut in half to use on my two garage doors. I am a very satisfied customer.
