Pros:
- Strong & heavy
- Compact
- Good value for 1 hour protection; half an hour on the slightly cheaper safes just seemed too short
Cons:
- Heavy lid with no safety catch; watch out for your fingers!
- Does not fit most of my certificates; should've paid more attention to the size
- Too much floor space when placed like a drawer, but cannot be opened when upright; again, this should've been obvious during purchase
Get this if you have a lot of A4 (or smaller) size documents to protect. The next bigger size safe just seems too big; wish there was something slightly bigger where I could keep my certificates.

So far I have purchased two of these safes and luckily I haven't had the chance to see how well they hold up in a fire. Unlike most other fireproof safes in this price category, this safe will protect it's contents for up to an hour and is also waterproof. Most of the other options only protect for 30 minutes and are not waterproof.
Some reviewers have made negative comments about the hinge which initially concerned me until I inspected it closer. I don't know if they changed the design or not but the safes I've received have one long very sturdy plastic hinge which does not look breakable.

I had the same experience as another reviewer. After about two years (after the warrantee has expired) the material the hinges are made of has turned to dust, and the safe is useless. Initially Sentry Safe refused to take any responsibility, after more persistence they have agreed that they would replace it. Still it's a big heavy thing to be throwing in a landfill after two years. There is a design problem where the plastic extrusion does not correctly cover the hinge area so the concrete inner material is uncovered and soon turns to dust. I BOUGHT THE HONEYWELL 2017 MODEL TO REPLACE AN OLD SENTRY PRODUCT THAT WASN'T WATERPROOF, AND IT WAS A GREAT DECISION. THE HONEYWELL IS LARGER AND THE SEAL CLOSES WITHOUT STRUGGLING. I MENTION THAT BECAUSE I WENT INTO STAPLES TO VIEW THE SIMILIAR SENTRY FIREPROOF/WATERPROOF SAFE, AND IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO CLOSE AND THERE WAS NO HANDLE, WHICH IS REALLY STUPID. THE HONEYWELL OUTSHINES THE SENTRY PRODUCT BY LEAPS AND BOUNDS. YOU WON'T BE SORRY. I needed a box for safely storing living trust papers. The pages are 8.5x11" and do best laying flat in the box. I am able to do just that with these important papers. I replaced the big plastic/paper notebook binder the document came in with 2 big binder rings. The plastic would likely melt if the box were in a fire. Then the melting material would possibly ruin the document and/or feed the flame.
The box is heavy. But I could grab it and carry it out if there is a fire in my home. The price was reasonable.
