This safe has a design or manufacturing flaw. The inside walls have a bulge. Standard letter size file folders will not fit. I purchased the safe and then returned it. I went to Lowes and opened three boxes and all three had the same flaw. Thats 4 out of 4 bad. Not a very good record. In addition, 3 of the 4 were extremely hard to open. I had to put the full force of my 200 lbs on the top to compress the seal enough to open!
I ended up purchasing of the Sentry H4100 models. It is larger on the inside. No bulges. File folders fit and slide easily. Also, has an extra 2 inches of space in the lid allowing for space to store a binder or any taller items. Also, easier to open. Still requires pressure to compress the seal, but has a handle to assist.

The product was heavy, but seemed like it would have been ideal for what I wanted. Yet, Amazon failed to package the item safely - twice. The first item was water damaged (with water even inside the safe), yet no water damage on the outside shipping box; so it was packed up for shipment in damaged state! 2nd attempt, they didn't even pack the product box in any other protection, so when it arrived, a corner of the safe was crushed in, apparently dropped during shipping. After the 2nd attempt, I finally just asked for a refund & I'll purchase another safe locally. Amazon was cooperative in shipping charge & product refunds, and has always been great with smaller items, but I'll never purchase a larger item from them again. I wanted something that was fireproof to place my important documents in like the deed to the house, insurance documents, bank statements, etc... This safe has plenty of room and you can you use it with hanging files as you can see in the picture. It's not light, it's about 40 lbs but it's not too heavy where you can't carry it around. I didn't buy it to keep out thieves, so it's enough for me and I don't think it's really meant for that; the key is at least a tubular key so it's not as standard as some of the other safes I saw. If you want a a safe that's more secure, you'll need to pay more for a safe with a combo lock. Overall, it has plenty of room for documents and seems to be well made.Customer Review: Terrible - save yourself the frustration

This product really does not even deserve even 1 star!! The door and latch is so poorly made it is so hard to open it when unlocked. Now just 2 weeks after our purchase the latch is stuck with our documents and passport inside!!! We are traveling in a couple of days and now have the extra anxiety and worries of getting our passports out of it. Good thing I tried to put everything together a few days before our trip - hopefully, the locksmith or someone will be able to open this!! I contacted Sentry and they told me to get a locksmith. oh, so helpful!Customer Review: Terrible

This safe is absolutely terrible.
The plastic latch jammed when we moved, but the plastic face seemed loose, so I figured that I would pry the faceplate off and be able to press the lever after unlocking the safe. No need for that. 10 seconds with a screwdriver and the entire lock assembly fell off, shedding fireproofing as it came. Then the lid fell entirely off. Absolute junk.
Ah, and those who mention that it is too small for standard file folders are correct.
