Customer Review: Great little safe!

I bought this safe after a couple weeks of research and browsing the local stores. There are cheaper safes, but in the end I am very glad to have chosen this Sentry safe. Programming the code was simple, the extra keys for when the battery dies, nice carpet (no shelf),and 4 pre-drilled holes are all quality points for this little safe. It is quite sturdy and I have it mounted on a shelf utilizing all 4 drill holes (drill from the inside so screwheads can't be tampered with and you can move your little safe). I'd definitely mount this little unit unless you are storing heavy gold bars.
I've owned the safe for almost 6 months. The safe has functioned 99% of the time and have used it once, sometimes twice daily (the safe is CA DOJ certified) and the only time it has not worked properly is when I've keyed in the code, the ready light and beep tone goes off twice, but I can't open the door. It's okay, since I'll hit the code again and it unlocks just fine. This is a minor thing which doesn't waive my faith in it, and doesn't bother me at all. I'd buy it again or for others. Use quality batteries like Duracell or Energizer and I'm sure this will go for a long time...

Before Purchasing this safe there was a few factors that needed to be met. One being space to hold a few guns and reliability. Reliability was my main concern since my last safe "ADG" Sports electronic safe failed to open for me. The battery ran dead while I was on vacation and when I went to open the safe with the key it just kept spinning in a circle. I will never buy an ADG product again so I had to buy a replacement and I know that Sentry has been around for a very long time and took the chance to give them a try according to the reviews.
Here's what I like about if so far from what I had before.
Pros:
Horizontal space compared to having more depth storage.
Two double AA battery compared to using 6 to 8 batteries just for the electronic code.
You have an option of choosing a variable amount of numbers for a passcodes.
Well-built all around.
Cons:
Haven't found any yet but when I do I will post.
Over all I think I will be happy for a very long time with this safe and so far it has exceeded my expectations.

The safe arrived promptly and in good condition. I inserted the batteries, checked the spare keys, programmed the combination and tested everything in about 20 min without difficulty. It took a little longer to fasten the safe to a concrete wall, but that was also straightforward. As noted by others, this is not designed to be a highly secure unit. It is not waterproof or fireproof. It is mainly designed to discourage children, guests or a casual thief from accessing the contents. It has now been about a month since I installed the safe, and it operates flawlessly once every day with no sign of the battery issues mentioned by others. The unit came with a plastic corner piece that keeps the door from slamming metal on metal. I recommend fastening this in place with a drop of epoxy so it doesn't fall off and get lost. I am pleased with the purchase and feel that I got my money's worth. I expect that I would buy another safe from the same company.Customer Review: Does the job as expected

I travel quite often for work and have frequently used the safe in the hotel room for my extra credit cards, cash, passports, rings, ipods, cell phones, important documents, etc. It provides a peace of mind and I wanted the same for my home. I didn't need anything too big or fancy since I would store similar items in the safe at home. With that said, I found this safe for a very reasonable price, solid construction, and easy enough to use. The metal walls aren't super thick, but it's solid enough that you couldn't just tear it open with a hammer and has enough weight to it that it won't easily dent or break.
Overall, it's comparable to the safes you'd find in a hotel room, very simple to use, and worth it for the peace of mind it brings.

This is a solid safe. The dual access gives a easily accessible yet secure entry method, as well as a backup in case the batteries die. I am a college student and this definitely does the trick. Its got a pretty heavy door which is probably thanks to the two deadlocks its got to prevent entry. you can screw it to something (though i would recommend stripping the screws to really secure it. you can always get something at home depot in case you need to move it) It is also just the perfect size; you can fit just about anything that needs to be kept safe in here. The only thing that could make this product better is providing a shelf, but im not complaining. This is a great safe. I recommend the purchase for anyone who is still shopping around.
