Customer Review: Beware of these poor quality safes

I bought two of these x125 safes from Amazon. Installed the first one, tested locking and opening it a couple of times and then put all my valuables, passports, etc. inside. Now it won't open and the override key will not open it either.
So, thinking to look at the insides of the second one for clues as to how to break in, I unpacked the second safe for the first time, only to find that I cannot open this one either, brand new and straight out of the box. Again, the override key does not work. Furthermore, the keys for the two safes are identical, which suggests pretty low security standards, although seeing as the keys don't work anyway I guess it makes little difference...
Obviously, with 100% failure on our two purchases our initial reaction was that we had to be doing something wrong, but several people have studied the manual and noone can open either safe with any of the keys provided. We are now trying to decide the best way to break our new purchase open.
Do yourself a favor and do not buy a Sentry safe.

I bought this as a theft deterrent. Well after looking at it and reading online, I discovered it can be opened WITHOUT tools in less than 5 seconds. That's anti theft? I modified mine for mounting before realizing this, so no returns. I wasn't going to tell without having a solution, maybe Sentry will change the design. Take your fist and hit the front door strongly above the knob at a 45 degree angle downward, at the same time turning the knob. Open in less time than to enter to code. Pityfull!
I fixed it by glueing a 3/4 inch round magnet on the lock bar just above the electric solenoid, half off over the bar to the solenoid. You may have to try different magnets to get the right strength, but the first one I tried worked, so maybe not so critical. The magnet keeps the solenoid bar from falling so easily. But, a large hammer may still be a problem, didn't try.
Sentry, modify the design.

This is only about customer support, the product seems fine. I purchased a S3310 and the combo given didn't work. Foolish me, I thought the company might take responsibility for their mistake and give me the correct combo. Their AUTO-RESPONDER tells me to pay $12, get a notarized statement that I'm the owner, send it to them, and hope they don't send me the same combination. 2nd and 3rd attempts with different email titles got NO response. Bottom line: If you expect no need for customer service then this might be a decent product otherwise find a different manufacturer.Customer Review: Just right for my use.

I purchased this safe after being burglarized. I used to have a false sense of security, just because I have an alarm system, but I was wrong. I decided to purchase this to further secure my "stuff" in my home. And this unit does just that. It is large enough to hold everything I need it to, yet I was able to hide it's location. It may not be considered a heavy duty safe, but you are able to secure it in place so that it is not easily taken as a unit. I like the keypad entry for fast access to items. This safe is just the right size for a home security safe. The budjet minded cost made this safe well worth every penny. A very solid well made secure safe. It totally exceeded my expectations. Not too heavy as far as being able to locate a proper place to install/bolt this safe. The touch key combination seems to work out better for us (easy to use). Plenty of room for important documents, money, and jewelry. Has given us the peace of mind knowing these items are secure. Stop looking you'll be pleased with this safe.
