There has been a continuing issue with rats throughout my community. Once you think they've moved on, the neighboring towns do something causing their return to yours. On and off for the past year I have been seeing signs of their visitation on my garage floor, though I never have been able to locate one hiding in there, and my dogs didn't either. Since I don't want my dogs killing them, my schnauzer has already killed two rather large ones, I thought I'd look for a more effective and clean alternative. Besides, keeping them away from your property to begin with is the best defense from the diseases they can carry.
All the home remedies like peppermint oil didn't work, but the reviews for Shake-Away looked promising. I took a chance on the product and with just a light application in my garage and around my yard I noticed an immediately difference. The dogs picked up on its application right away; so did all the critters in the neighborhood too.
Immediately after using it, I noticed the rat droppings in the garage stopped, there were no more rabbits fleeing for their lives every evening when the dogs went out, and the dogs were no longer obsessed with tracking whatever had been in the yard that evening; since nothing had dared enter! You'd think the fear of death by two relentless terriers would be enough; sometimes it's not, and when this is the case, there's Shake-Away!

I have not used this particular product for RODENT control.
I HAVE used the SMALL CRITTER Repellent (same brand) for chipmunks and bunnies etc. That has only been partially effective. It has not dissuaded the critters to move on. They seem to come back after two days and call my bluff. I think it is because we have only lived here 2 years now and they have been "in (under) residence" for a much longer time. I wanted to use a humane type product like this but this one is just too expensive per use and I have not gotten the results I was hoping for. I am down to my last 2 jars and I have already used 4 without success. I won't order it again.
It is a shake product but the consistency of the product is somewhat moist and so it really doesn't like to "shake" out through the holes provided. The larger opening dispenses it too rapidly and one can use up a bottle/jar in a hurry.

For the past 10 months, I have had rodents invade my car's engine, twice chewing harness wires in different areas of the vehicle's engine and nest building on the battery. I tried everything. I then bought Shake Away Rodent Repellant Granules and sprinkled them around the perimeter of the car. I also put two bowls filled with the granules on the ground, directly under the engine. So far, no rodents chewing wires and no nest building for the past three weeks (prior, nest building was being done almost every day). I just hope the buggers don't get used to these granules, but right now, I highly recommmend this product if you are having problems with the rodents chewing your car's wires. Follow the directions carefully. The whole idea was to prevent mice from entering my double garage/basement storage to begin with - I didn't want to deal with catching mice once they had already set up home. Once settled in their gestation period is three weeks and the average litter is 7 - 11. When we moved into our home, my wife suggested that there may possibly be mice - three months and 27 trapped mice later, I had had enough. I bought Shake-Away Rodent Repellant and shook the granules in the vicinity of all doors any any possible mouse access holes. Every now and then I shake more granules for good measure. Haven't had any mice since. I make certain to apply regularly in the fall, when creatures are looking for someplace warm to nest up. In addition, I also spray insect repellant around the garage doors and seem to have significantly reduced insect and spider invasion.Customer Review: Bye-Bye Little Mousey!

We had just moved in our new home that had previously been a corn field and we starting finding mice droppings in our garage. We then found some in the house and decided to take action. Having 4 children under the age of 7 we wanted whatever it was to be safe. We contacted an exterminator who said they would have to use poision, but we might find dead mice in the house. We tried glue traps, caught some that way but who wants to dispose of the sticky mice. Tried the little sound things that plug into the walls. Didn't work. Found Shake away and our mouse problem was gone. That was 3 years ago and we still use this stuff. Just sprinkle around the house a few weeks before fall comes and then a few more times during the fall, and no more problem! If you are looking for the safe then try this!
