Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sheffield WH580035 5 Piece Plier SetCustomer Review: Handy Tool Set Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this set for myself to have in the house for the little projects that come up. My other tools seem to "walk off" when I'm not looking. I assume this matched set should be more identifiable...so maybe I'll have better luck. :)
At a glance, the tools all appear to be sturdy and well made. It's a smaller set than some, with most pliers only 6" in length, which is fine for my purpose and less bulky to store. The padded handles are comfortable and look like they will hold up to some use. I'd definitely recommend this set for general home repair use, and at Amazon's price it's a great deal. It even came with a couple of discounted and bonus tools when I bought it.
Customer Review: Just OK for the money Summary: 3 Stars
I got this plier set about a month ago and used them on only 2 projects so far. The handles are nice and comfy, well cushioned. The tool construction is no better than average. While using the large channel lock type plier, it actually separated making it impossible to grip the work as tightly as needed. I'm no Mr. Atlas so it's a little rare I can squeeze something that tight. At any rate, tightening the nut that holds the two halves together solved the problem (barely) but it had to be so tight it had to be "opened" with two hands. Not good. All in all, it's a fair deal for the money though.
Customer Review: misleading promo? Summary: 3 Stars
the quality of the main items, the lead item, is fairly good. but the free add-ons are of middling quality. the sales hype to give something free to get them to buy what is otherwise hard to sell, is at work here. what is misleading is that the offer of the folding knife is a one time deal. once you get that knife in one of the -grouped sales', you can never get it again in one of the other 'deals'. so forget wasting your time, entering into the cart, then only to find the promo code will not work after the first buy.
Customer Review: I like them Summary: 5 Stars
I was skeptical about ordering the set. How good can they be for $14 ? To my surprise they were well worth the price. They are comfy in my hand, they feel sturdy, and they grip well. When I go to the hardware store I compare what set I can get for $14, and I can't find anything that compares for under $20. I even like them better than my black-handled Craftsmans. They are not channellocks, nor will they replace my channellocks, but at 1/4 the price I couldn't go wrong.
Customer Review: Cheap pliers save entire RailRoad convention! Summary: 4 Stars
Cheap pliers! No way.. these babies saved the day for me last week. I was at the Big Sky Model RailRoad convention and somehow my scale model of Spirt Town was damaged. I though the convention was over for sure.. but with the Sheffield 5 piece plier set me and my RailRoad Possey were able to repair everything prior to the big show. Unfortunatly we still lost to the crew from Ogden but without the plies we would have been out earlier.
