Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sheffield WH58009 Folding Lock Back Utility KnifeCustomer Review: Best utility knife ever!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought one of these from Lowe's under the Kobalt brand name after a friend raved about it. I carry it everywhere now. It has all the benefits of a normal folding knife, except you can abuse the blade without ruining the knife.
It's very well made, and can take abuse that a normal knife never would, because you can just change the blade if you mess it up. It's got a great storage area for spare blades.
I don't understand the reviewers who complain about blade changing. It is a trivial task, and it doesn't require a screwdriver like most utility knives.
Customer Review: Nice Sized Sturdy Utility Knife Summary: 5 Stars
This knife has a nice solid feel and heft. The blade is easily deployed and folded back. The blade actually comes with a free standing small plastic safety tip for your blade, but will probably get lost unless you're really good about remembering where you put it. The razor blade tip does fold back into the handle nicely. The knife comes with lots of extra blades as a bonus. Great size for a utility knife. This makes easy work of opening those boxes from Amazon. (BTW got this knife as a package deal with other Johnson tools... good value.)
Customer Review: Thought it'd be cheap and junky, but it is pretty NICE!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I got this in a "3 tools for the price of 2" deal. I thought it's be fairly junky given the price. Boy was I wrong! The quality and finish is REALLY nice. Good secure lock in the open position, and folds down to a FRACTION of the size of a normal utility knife. It has the feel of a small pocket knife, yet you can go ahead and trash the blade, since it refills with standard utility knife blades. I ended up buying a second one, so I always have one in arms reach.
Customer Review: Very good value Summary: 5 Stars
I have used all kinds of utility knives. Sheffield definately makes some of the best. I have the Sheffield easy lock package with curved blades as well, which is also a very good product. This is a very handy little blade to carry in the back pocket or glove compartment. The blades are nice and sharp, and the locking mechinism is very easy to operate. The blades do not wobble at all. The entire unit is made of metal and feels heavy. Definately worth the money.
Customer Review: Sooner or later you will own one of these Summary: 5 Stars
It may not say Sheffield on it but you will someday have one. I was always pissed at having to look for the utility knife I was just using, but this one is always in my pocket when doing a job that needs one. Mine says Kobalt on it because it is the best looking one. Other utility knifes may be easier to use because they have a larger, better shaped handle or you can control the length of the blade sickout, but what good are they if you don't have them with you?
