Customer Review: useful but could be better made

Pros:
- won't budge without the right combination (should be a given, but mileage does vary)
- lighter and more compact than others
- has different combinations for the shackle and the compartment, in case someone walking off with the box itself is a risk
Cons:
- apparently fascinates kids :^)
- as noted in another review, the size means that it won't accept larger (car door) keys
- resetting the combination is _not_ as easy as the manufacturer claims, at least not after 3+ years; to do this, you first turn a reset screw, which, for me, promptly became misaligned within its recess. That made the dial numbers really hard to turn, so I wouldn't want to do this often.
- the zero-locking thing is annoying; this is what, they argue, makes the dials easy to use in the dark -- you move all the dials until you feel them lock and then count up until you've reached the correct digit. However, the "clicks" or segments aren't so definitively noticeable, unless maybe you're a professional. Also, it's too easy to move more than one dial at a time, thereby messing up what you just did. It's a good effort and maybe _is_ appreciated by sight-impaired users, but, like another reviewer, I couldn't possibly use it in the dark.
All that said, this beats hiding keys where you think no one will find them. I also recommend this guy, for your car: GE Security 001308 Keysafe Auto Window Mount, Black. You'll never have to wait to be let back into your car again!
