Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sinometer BT558 Self-powered Battery TesterCustomer Review: Good tester for disposable batteries. Summary: 5 Stars
Don't be fooled by the negative reviews. Some people are purchasing this product to test rechargeable batteries -- something it is neither designed nor advertised for. If you are looking to test rechargeable batteries, buy a load tester. If you are looking to test traditional disposable (Alkaline, Zinc-Carbon sizes AA, AAA, C, D and 9V) batteries, then this is a darn good choice for five bucks. My only complaint is that mine came in black with a large white "Kaito" label on it and that the product description should say something to the effect of "appearance may vary." I have had to issues with it's accuracy and plan to keep it. Like I said, it's a good buy for five bucks.
Customer Review: Button Batteries Too! Summary: 5 Stars
I'll be ordering more of these as little Christmas gifts for family. I like to give obscure yet very functional items, and this fits that description. It's very useful! Compact and handy!
Now I can safely throw away a couple of electronic items that don't work anymore without worrying whether I had tried replacing the batteries or whether the replacement batteries are working.
The Battery Tester tests button batteries too! The product description wasn't too clear about that -- I think it shows up in one of the product photos. The arm lifts and lowers to adjust to the different battery sizes. It's great that it doesn't require a battery itself!
Customer Review: I like this little Battery Tester. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this battery tester in Sept'08 from Amazon.
I like it so far.
- The small size is nice. I keep it in the same storage box as my batteries.
- The design is nice. I like how the testing arm is part of the protective case until you use it.
- The usability is good. Easy to use. I trained my 6 year old son how to use it and now he periodically he tests and gets rid of all the depleted batteries.
My Overall rating: 5 out of 5 stars. Good quality and usability for the price. Helps to ensure my battery supply has all the bad batteries weeded out from it.
I hope you find my review helpful.
Customer Review: Battery Tester_saves money! Summary: 5 Stars
Battery Tester saves money.
This is one of those products that force you to say "I wish I had known about this all along!" I have this same style of tester, but mine is made by Powerex.
I had a large bag of batteries ready for the recycling bin. I used the tester and MORE than half of them turned out to be good batteries. I learned that when a product stops working it is usually only 1 or 2 batteries that are truly out of power. Just in case U miss it- the 9 volt tester area is on the side of the unit.
An excellent product. Start using rechargeable batteries & a charger and you'll save even more money!
Customer Review: Great little Gadget! Summary: 5 Stars
This gadget is a money saver. I cannot think of all of the batteries I may have thrown away over the years that were still usable in lower energy tools such as clocks, radios or flashlights. Some of the high tech gadgets and toys require a lot more energy - and may not work even if there is some power left in the battery. I use this tester to see how much power is left and I now have 30 batteries I can "re-use". When they are completely spent, I can take to the recycle. This is also good for recyclable batteries. Tells me if I need to recharge or not. Works on EVERY size battery from D cell to 9 Volt to Button type. Worth every penny.
