I bought this product to test rechargeable batteries for my camera, wireless mouse, etc.
Although the batteries were nearly depleted, this tester still detected voltage and indicated that the batteries were "GOOD".
This tester doesn't detect *how much* remaining charge is in the battery. It just detects if *any* charge is left in the battery.
Do you want to go out with 1/2 charged batteries and not know it? Check the specifications on battery testers to make sure they put a sample load on the battery. That provides a clear indication of remaining battery life.

this is a great way of double checking batteries you thought were no good - I had several that I was going to throw out, only to find they were perfectly fine! It means you know when there might be a problem with an appliance rather than always assuming it's the batteries. Of particular use, was checking our hard wired smoke alarms - they say replace the back up batteries every 6 months - which I had done - but when I checked their charge, they were still full! so now i can use them for other things rather than throw them out! This inexpensive gadget is invaluable and pays for itself very quickly.Customer Review: No more throwing away good batteries

Had one of these in the past that got lost in a recent move. Couldn't find a replacement locally so was thrilled to find it here on Amazon. We go through a lot of batteries around our place and the kids seem to throw them away waaay too fast. This allows me to double check them for strength before they hit the trash and saves me tons of money. A toy with 8 batteries could stop working due to one bad battery (hence one gone and 7 saved). I have found accuracy of readings to be right on. Nice small unit- doesn't require another power source to operate.Customer Review: Great Self Powered Battery Tester

Tests all types of commonly used batteries including 9 Volt batteries. A little tricky to lift the arm up and line up the battery you are testing. So, if you have arthritis or a hand tremor this may not be the best device for you. Self powered so no battery required for operation. I bought several items together so i was able to use the super saver shipping option and not pay on shipping to make the price resonable. The tester is accurate enough to let you know whether a battery is good, low, or bad.

I saved myself some time and money with this handy, light weight
battery tester. My grandson helped me check all my "old" batteries
for usefulness. We found many that still had lots of useful life
left. The others were disposed of properly- drawer is now cleaned out!
I also took this on a recent trip - those digital cameras say change
battery- sometimes need a rest instead. Here is a way to check. It takes
a minute to get the hang of how to use it, but then it's easy.
