Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sinometer Digital Battery Tester, BT20Customer Review: Great and accurate tester Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is great. It's cheap, small, accurate. The LCD display is a very nice feature. I use this to measure fairly accurately the remaining voltages on my rechargeable Ni-MH AAs so I could match them as sets of two or four. Without this tester my batteries would get all mixed up new along with old which is not good because ideally you'd want all batteries in a single device to be matched.
For example you do not want to have 1 old battery mixed with 3 new ones in a 4 battery device as the single old battery will tend to discharge sooner than the others causing the other batteries to try and run the device without the help of the 4th battery. It's the same situation with two battery devices eg you do not want a new battery paired with an old one.
Keep in mind this tester requires a single AAA battery to run. This isn't a big deal for me since I put a lithium battery in mine which should last for many years.
Description of Sinometer Digital Battery Tester, BT20The Sinometer BT20 is a great gadget, and it really works. A little arm moves up and down to accommodate the battery, you place it between the two points, and the easy-to-read display tells you instantly whether you have a dud, or if you can eke out another few minutes of battery life. Best of all, it fits easily in your pocket, so you can take it anywhere you have battery operated equipment.
One side of it handles AA, AAA, C and D batteries, and on the other side, there are two buttons for testing 9 volt batteries, so you'll have no more tingling tongue from the old fashioned "tongue between the terminals" checking method.
