Tools and Hardware Reviews of Skylink SC-1000 Complete Wireless Alarm System

Customer Review: SC-1000 combined with SC-10
Summary: 5 Stars

After reading the reviews of this product, I decided to purchase this with the SC-10. As one reviewer had described you get an extra key transmitter, window/door sensor, external alarm, and at a cost savings. So for just over $200 I combined both products. I also added some additional items, i.e. the water sensors, extra motion detectors. Installation was fairly straightforward. I did have to call support because the antenna on the external alarm unit needed a small trimming to fit inside the unit. Customer service was excellent, they called me back timely, twice. The unit has worked extremely well, and has been tested a couple times.
I really like the dialer features, up to 9 calls, and no monitoring fees. I did as other suggested and hid my dialer, placed it in silent operation so you can't hear the dialer/message being delivered. I put the external alarm from the SC-10 on the outside, so I have alarm inside/out, at the same time. I added additional items, easy enough to do.
I would recommend this to anyone looking for a simple to install system, with ability to avoid monitoring fees.
My only complaints. The key transmitters look somewhat cheap, bulky, plastic, and not very well labeled. As someone suggested, I used perm markers to color code the keys. The door/window sensors also have a bulky component that gets mounted right up alongside or on your door. I placed mine at the very tops of the door so they are somewhat out of site. They are larger than most sensors you find in wireless systems.
For the money spent you can't beat this system, and with the capability of easily adding on to the system, it makes for an excellent home alarm system. If you're in the market for a security system for yourself, click the order button now.

Customer Review: Saved my Children's life.
Summary: 5 Stars

This product is the best investment I have ever made. You will not regret it. I love my children, I try my best to never yell at them, although they are teenagers. My son, 13, my daughter, 14, and my other son, 15.

My wife and I went out to a nice dinner one evening from about 8-10.
Who knew that in those two hours, something tragic could happen?

We always have the alarm on "instant" when we are away, just in case.
My daughter was the only one that saw it, although the other boys were in the house.

Two men kicked down our front door, and the extremely loud alarm triggered. My daughter was in the same room at the time, she ran to the bedroom, and locked the door. She called 911, and The dialer called us, to let us know, we immediately left and called them to make sure everyone was okay. My oldest son said they were fine, but Sarah (my daughter) saw it all, and someone did knock the door down. The said they had pistols in their hands at the time, she said they were easy to see, for their outfits were darker-colored and the pistol was shiny silver, that's when she ran! If you have children or teens that could be at the house alone at anytime, get this, for your child's safety and for your peace of mind.

I had two security cameras, one at our front door, and one in the back. I saw the tape, the police, then, saw the tape, and they got them! They are now in prison, and away from my children!

Thank GOD the children were not hurt. Even if you are gone for ten minutes to fill up your car tank, something bad can happen. It's easy to set up, and It's totally worth the money, especially if you have kids.

Customer Review: Great product
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful system that allow for peace of mind when leaving the premises. I bought the complete system with alarm and dialer. The systems come linked together, so if someone sets off the door/windows alarms or the motion detector, the dialer will begin calling the pre-programmed numbers with your custom pre-recorded message. So far it has worked very well. The built in alarm is unbearably loud, so be careful if you set it off by accident. Be sure you have the remote handy as you do NOT want to get near it to disarm it. It has the ability to trip the phone dialer based on the sensors by themselves, as a whole, or by the main security system. The dialer can be set so that you can hear the numbers being dialed, or you can opt to make it completely silent. I have mine silent as I don't want someone finding it and pulling the phone cord out. Besides, the alarm is enough to scare anyone off. The motion detector is very touchy however, and it will trip the system with slight movement. In my opinion that is a good thing. At night I set it so that only the doors and windows are alarmed, and the motion detector is off. This is a handy feature. I've purchased many security devices lately and this one is certainly the best. If you combine this with an in home motion detection webcam such as the Linksys WVC54GC you can not only be alerted via phone, but also get pictures sent to your cell phone, send streaming media to your cell phone, or simply hop onto the web and view your house in real time with no computer needed. This is my setup and it gives you an amazing piece of mind. Just be sure to mount everything out of sight!

Customer Review: HORRIBLEEE SHIPPING!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Shippingg was horrible. paid for the fastest shipping which was the most expensive. was to receive it on a monday. came two days later on wednesday!!! HORRIBLEE!!! when asked the shipping company as to why, they responded with by saying that the delivery guy could not access my apartment building. embarrassing as to how the delivering guy COULD NOT read simple directions on my call box . "PRESS # WITH THE APARTMENT NUMBER..." not once, not TWICE, but THREE times the deliver guy could not understand simple directions. whats more shameful is that my apartment is ground level....meaning my house is rite next to the sidewalk. meaning he DOES NOT even need to enter the building. all he has to do is walk to my door. another big disgraceful thing is that i wrote a note as to where he has to go...wait theress morreee!!!
the deliver company/guy calls me under a blocked # what are they thinking!? of course im not going to answer a blocked #!!! maybe it can be telemarketers? yah? no? well they called twice. on that third day, i sort of realized that i could be the shipping guy/company... but by the time i picked up my phone, it stopped ringing. i immediately called the shipping company as i walked outside of my front house door... i notice the deliver guy trying to open the garage door by my house. what are you thinking!!?? GOSHHH!!!! half of my anger went to the deliver guy that was still confused as to what was occurring and the other half of my anger went to the poor lovely women that handling my call. but in the end i did receive my order. and blah blah. but it was still late and i am still mad.

Customer Review: Skylink works quite well for me.
Summary: 5 Stars

I spent a small fortune on a GE security system that was so complicated I had to, eventually, scrap the whole package because the instructions were so confusing and vague that I couldn't figure out how to program it. I even asked an electrician friend to come over and help install with no success. About $1500 down the tubes. For a few hundred dollars, the Skylink was a snap. I mean you have to concentrate a little bit on the installation instructions, but they are all there and if you follow them correctly you can have the system installed in a few hours. I like it, too, because you have the choice of having an independent alarm service monitor (I've seen them on the internet for as low as $5.00 per month) or you can just program the sender to send the alarm message to your own cell phone (and several other phones as well). I have mine programed to call my cell phone for the time being but think I will, eventually, have a central alarm service respond as we do travel a lot and I don't want to be in a position to have to leave my cell phone on 24 hours a day. The system has a mighty loud alarm which, in itself, should scare off anyone trying to enter, but the automatic dialer (which is located at a different location than the control panel)can be in an inconspicuous location in case the intruder wants to try to disable the control panel. I was a little worried about the motion detector as I have three cats that roam around the house. I adjusted it to a slightly higher elevation and, so far, I haven't had any false alarms. This much protection for such a small investment....no brainer.
