Wow what can I really say? Let me start from the beginning, the item arrived in a timely fashion and nicely packed. I didn't put it on my bed right away because I was in between moving my bed around. I did take the foam out it's packaging for inspection. From that moment I could tell the memory foam in combination with my current mattress will make a "better sleeping surface". But I decided to place the foam back in the open box until I was ready to use it (about a week). That could be the reason why I did not notice any plastic or latex odors.I've only had the memory foam for about three weeks now and I could not be happier with it, at the exact moment you body touches the foam, the foam pushes back! it has a nice resistance to it, just before it gives way allowing your body to sink about two inches before you come to rest on top of your current mattress.... as if the foam was trying to say; "have a good night's rest my friend, you have earned it". Believe me when I say, "like me, you will be wondering why you didn't get this sooner"
My mattress is brand new (about two months) and it was comfortable before, but the foam top certainly makes for a "better sleeping surface" actually you will not believe how good your mattress will feel with this "in my opinion" small addition. Plus with regular foam mattresses your body sinks in about have way? Not my preference, I like a mattress that's a bit firm, with the memory foam top, I can have the best of both worlds. So if you have a new mattress and feel you don't needs this .... I think you do!! ;O)
One word of advice, if you have a waterproof mattress protector, like the "protect-A-bed" sold here at Amazon (not a plug, I just have one) do not cover the foam pad with it, just use it to cover the mattress. if you cover the foam, the water proofing material on the protect a bed sticks to the pad and makes slight noises when you move around making for an uncomfortable rest, the opposite of a "better sleeping surface"
My only grape is that the angles are very sharp, making it a bit ovious that there is a topper on the mattress, but if I had to do it over again i would buy two of them .... one for the house and one for the office!! (just kidding)
