I was happy with this product. I think it is useful in certain areas such as computers for the monitor, printer, speakers with cpu as the primary. Also, for televisions, with the speakers, dvd, vcr. It's not very useful for kitchen equipment due to the size. Wasn't very useful for the bedroom either due to the need for constant on for the clock, radio, light, and fan. I would suggest purchasing one and see how it works first then purchase more as needed. Energy savings have yet to be calculated but I imagine the strip will pay for itself in under a year. Which makes it worth it to me. Energy prices are only going to go up in time so controlling demand will be more important. Start now.Customer Review: Great concept

It works as it promised,First off when you use Control outlet make sure to
connect Device(Computer,Receiver,TV)that use at least use over 1 Amp or 100 Watts of power to work properly,otherwise it will not control any Device connected to Switch outlet..example if you connect Cable,Dvr,DVD Player in the Control outlet it will not work because those Device does not draw much Electricity to activate Switch Outlet.
Then the Design is sucks compare to Apc,Belkin,other products and Adjustment Nob is hard to adjust..u need a Philip Screw Driver,Coin etc
and it only has 2875 Total Joule protection as well as does not have AVR
(Aotomatic Voltage Regulator)...

Smart Strip LCG5 Energy Saving Power Strip with Autoswitching Technology and Modem/Coaxial Surge Protection
I bought three and fitted them to our two computer systems and to the Home Theater. So far, really, really good. Saves so much messing about with switches and remotes as everything now works with one "action" and the things we want left on all the time, just go into the appropriate places on the bar. Can't say how much energy it all saves as we have solar electric feeding into the Utilities power system, but these days, every penny helps!

I replaced a backup UPS with this power strip since I no longer run my computer 24x7 as a server. It works great! I am using it with an intel iMac and have no issues. Just a warning on how it behaves since I've seen a few complaints about the power strip not properly switching off. It sometimes takes a while (several minutes) to shut down my peripherals, even after calibrating. However, I believe this is so that the power strip is immune to fluctuations in the power draw of your control device (e.g. computer). I'm fine with this though. I'd rather that it takes a while to switch off rather than falsely switch off while the computer is on.Customer Review: After about 5-10 uses, it just functions as a regular powerstrip...

I purchased two of the Smart Strips because of the good reviews, but very quickly both of my units have reverted to typical power strips after only 5-10 uses. The strips functioned properly and shut off/turned on all devices according to design at the beginning, but the energy saving function quickly stopped "working". At least I have two regular power strips, but the energy saving feature appears to be extremely fragile, and no "calibration" seems to return it to functioning. I would recommend searching for other brands or devices that offer power saving functions, and unfortunately I would not recommend these power strips...
