This thing has more surge protection than many higher end, more expensive name brands. plus this thing saves u I bought another one for my mother's PC. U may need to adjust the sensitivity knob a little, but once u do, all appliance hooked into the switched outlets shut off. I love it. I bought and returned two APC versions of this outlet, since their shutoff sensor could not be adjusted. The Smart Strip overcomes this with a potentiometer dial and simple instructions.
Note: The adjustment still does not work with very low amperage devices plugged into the master outlet (e.g., small cable box).

It worked perfectly as received (default setting). Changing an Onkyo "home theater" receiver from standby to active turns on the tv and subwoofer, and back to standby turns them off. The first one being still entirely satisfactory after 2 weeks of use, I bought 2 more for 2 desk top computers and their multiple accessories.Customer Review: Really works for me

I really like this device in helping eliminate phantom loads. When you plug in your controlling device and all other peripheral devices, they all turn off when you turn off your controlling device. I have it hooked up to my home theater system. When I turn off the TV, all my other devices turn off too.Customer Review: Great idea!

This power strip is a great idea! I purchased it as a gift for my father. It's a nice energy saver, and it's great to be able to push one button (in his case, the computer) and have everything turn on. It works just like I would have expected, and he uses all the time. I may purchase another for me!
