From what I've read, flat panel TV's draw the most power in standby mode. Using the Smart Strip for my home theater, it's only logical to plug the TV into the control outlet so all components come on when the TV is powered up. Works great. I had been crawling under my computer table to turn off the power strip at night. Now it does it by itself. I only wish that ALL of the "power saving" outlets were spaced further apart. If you have a lot of peripherals, this is what you're looking for: a healthy amount of spaces, several large enough to make room for the oversized computer cables. Works perfectly. I bought a nice new receiver and the only feature it didn't have was a switched outlet. I use this strip to turn off other components such as my HDMI and composite video switches when my receiver turns off. Highly recommended.
