Tools and Hardware Reviews of Smith Abrasives CCKS 2-Step Knife SharpenerCustomer Review: Good Little Sharpener Summary: 5 Stars
First of All, don't put your expectations too high for this $5 sharpener. I bought mine at walmart for $5 and it has no complaints. I have used it on numerous knives ranging from small swiss army knives which got sharper in just a few strokes to 11.5'' Bowie knives which took much more time but the result was pleasing. Absolutely 5 stars! Course and fine side, both work well! Don't put to much pressure on the blade as you slide it through however, at the best this will do nothing to your knife, worst result is that it will chip your knife. There is enough friction between the steel of the blade and the sharpener. Great Tool All in All! (Would not recommend for kitchen knives) Seems to be less affective on bigger knives but still gives pleasant result over time
Customer Review: Puts a Sharp Edge on Any BLade Summary: 5 Stars
This product will put a quick edge on any knife, large or small. Simply draw the angled (paired) sharpening stones over your blade, and presto - you have an edge, and a pretty good one too. Best of all, the sharpener is very portable, weighs less than nothing, and fits into backpacks, fishing tackle boxes, hunting fanny pack, etc. with no added weight or bulk.
The edge that this sharpener puts on a blade is a great starting point for further honing of the blade to razor sharpness if desired.
I have several of these sharpeners. The only drawback is that the sharpening stones wear out after perhaps 6 - 10 sharpenings. But under 5 bucks a unit, this is a bargain.

Customer Review: Not a bad little tool Summary: 4 Stars
I used to sharpen knives for a living. And while I still prefer using DMT stones for most knife sharpening jobs, this little tool does not do a bad job. I have a set of Cold Steel kitchen knives and this does a pretty good job of restoring the edge. It won't give you a hair shaving edge,(why it gets 4 and not 5 stars), but it will give you a good working edge in fairly short order. I highly recommend this for those who have a problem keeping their edges even on both sides and don't want to spend a lot of money on a sharpening tool. I keep one in my backpack just because is is light and small. Not bad for the money invested.
Customer Review: Handy kitchen tool Summary: 5 Stars
This is my second Smith's sharpener and it doesn't disappoint. I like the ability to choose between the coarse or fine abrasive or both depending on the condition of the knife. However instructions say to lay the tool a flat surface and draw the knife thru the sharpener. I find it easier to do the opposite and lay the knife on it's back and draw the sharpener over the blade. I see no more danger doing this than per instructions. Amazon.com sent this via USPS and they're not called snail mail without a reason.
Customer Review: Exactly what I wanted in a sharpener Summary: 5 Stars
I wanted a sharpener that was easily portable, but would sharpen my scissors as well as my pocket knife and this worked perfectly. I had an old dull pocketknife and in just a few minutes was as good as new. The non-slip ends really did help to stabilize, but the real key was the sizable gripping area on either side - so it works just as well for lefties (which I am one). This is as simple as it gets. Purists may want a stone - but for the edge I got using this - a stone is just too much work.
