I've never sharpened a knife before until I started grinding my own meat. At that time I realized that every knife in my house was dull and it made my job extremely hard. Instead of purchasing new knives, I figured I would try the diamond stone. I'm so glad I did because this is so simple to use and every knife in my house is so sharp that I banned my wife from using some of them because she may be beautiful but she is truly a clutz. This is a tiny investment that made every knife better than when they were new. Don't be afraid of this purchase.

Multiple layers of micron-sized diamonds bonded in nickel to a flat metal surface. Oval shaped holes in surface for easy discharge of fine metal filings and reduced build up. Sturdy molded plastic base with non-slip rubber feet for better stability. Includes protective lid and sharpening instructions.Smith's 6-inch fine/750 grit diamond bench stone is a quick-cutting, general-purpose sharpening stone that will be appreciated by woodworkers, culinary enthusiasts, hunters, fisherman and craftsmen alike. Monocrystalline diamond on a unique interrupted surface speeds abrasive action and stays clear and efficient during a long lifetime of use, and the unique Micro Tool Sharpening Pad even lets you sharpen very small cutting edges and knife points.
