Tools and Hardware Reviews of Smith & Wesson SWHRT9B Black HRT Boot KnifeCustomer Review: Very Nice Knife - Recommended Summary: 5 Stars
This Smith & Wesson "Boot Knife" is a really nice, high quality knife. This is my second S&W knife, Smith & Wesson SWHRT7T HRT Tanto Boot Knife, Black (see my comparison pictures in "Customer Images") and, while I like that one, this one is even better.
The blade came fairly sharp and a few passes over my Smith's PP1 Pocket Pal Multifunction Sharpener made it near razor sharp. This has a double edge and a great looking black non-reflective coating.
The handle is somewhat thin, as expected on a Boot Knife, and feels very nice in the hand. There is a lanyard hole near the end of the grip as well.
The sheath is good quality leather with a metal clip for attaching it to a boot or even a belt (a little awkward due to how high the handle rides). The knife is held in place by a snap strap that can be easily released with your thumb (righties) or forefinger (lefties) as the knife is drawn.
Overall, this is much better than I expected and is also a great value. As others point out, check the laws in your area to be sure double edged knives are legal and that you can carry one concealed if you choose to do so.
Highly Recommended!

Customer Review: well lets see.. Summary: 4 Stars
instead of blabbing about how much i like this knife ill let you all know the exact dimensions of it... since im well on my way to being an engineer i have alot of micrometers on hand and the reason i want to post the size of it is because ITS SMALL...i know to alot of people it might be "big enough" but for me its pretty tiny. i saw it as a pretty big knife from the pictures i saw a customer upload here but when i opened the box i noticed how short it felt on my hand. so lets see, what i got on the actual blade at its thickest is .155 inches a little smaller than the size of 2 sd cards and what i got on the length of the blade is 4.9 inches very close to 5 inches..the handle is the rough part, at .717 inches at its thickest and 4.375 in length its too small to be comfortable. but dimensions aside, i thought the knife was very sturdy and well made. the description mentions both aluminum and steel that the handle is made of so im not sure about the material but you cant really feel it because its coated with what feels like rubber (not teflon) but im not so sure. though it is pretty well balanced so it doesnt really matter.
overall its a good knife for the price (i paid 20 usd) but for self-defense its not what id expect to stab someone with....
Customer Review: Nice knife Summary: 4 Stars
This knife has a good weight and feel. It is a little small, but that is good for a knife that will be concealed in a boot. The guard is barely wider than the sheath and not as wide as my hand when holding it. The balance point is just below the guard, if that matters to you.
The blade is black, which makes for easier stealth. It was already sharpened when it arrived, not razor sharp, but sharp enough.
The sheath is thick and solid, which is a good thing since you don't want the knife cutting right through it. The snap for the strap that holds the knife in is easy to undo with your thumb. Moving the strap out of the way with your thumb to pull the knife out one handed may take a little getting used to. But it is easier than some knives I have used. The clip on the sheath is solid and strong. Though I would have preferred it up higher so the knife sits farther down in the boot. But then you would have to reach further into your boot to release it.
It is a good knife that I would recommend to someone looking for a boot knife.
Customer Review: Great Knife - Good Value Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased this knife through Amazon about a month ago - as usual, I got the product quickly, and it was exactly as advertised!
The Smith and Wesson SWHRT9B Black HRT Boot Knife is an awesome product, and at a good price. The knife isn't very big - 9" overall with a 4 3/4" blade. However, for it's intended purpose - I find that the size is just right. The blade is great - stainless steel and coated with a black teflon. This teflon coating gives the knife a unique feel and look, and makes it very "stealthy" as it won't shimmer and shine. Also, the knife has a double edged spear point blade - quite sharp and the double edges give it a definite "dagger" look and feel. The leather sheath that comes with it is really cool - good quality, fits the knife like a glove, and it has a quick release strap at the top, as well as a pocket clip.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this knife to anyone who need a good boot knife!
Customer Review: as always S&W makes a great knife Summary: 5 Stars
It's a great knife that's balanced really well (balance point is pretty much right on the hand guard). The blade is made of the good 440c stainless steel and not the cheap crappy stuff you see in those $2 stores, the Teflon coated blade is the real deal (not the black paint that some blades try play as Teflon).
The handle is lightweight aluminum with a good grip cover for less slipping and the sheath is genuine leather that fits the blade really well and also allows the knife to be unsheathed without any fuss.
The whole thing is nice and lightweight but still has good strength to be useful in some tough conditions, it's also a good manageable size perfect for a boot knife.
I'd recommend this knife to anyone that needs a good knife for any work even for a collection as this knife suits all needs while still looking great.
