Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sonin 00700 Water Alarm with Remote Sensor

Customer Review: Sonin water alarm
Summary: 4 Stars

This is my second purchase of this item. The first time was 15 years ago.It has lasted that long.We use it to tell us when water is coming in our basement whenever our sump pump malfunctions. It has a very loud alarm which wakes me up in the middle of the night even in the basement on the other end of my Ranch house.I would HIGHLY recommend this to anyone with water problems in their basements!!!!

Customer Review: Lame
Summary: 1 Stars

Using as a sump alarm for high water, i.e. failed pump. #1 pressing the button does not stop the beeping as it's supposed to. #2 the black sensor holds water. So when it does go off, it will continue to sound the alarm even when it appears the exterior contacts are bone dry because the INSIDE is still soaking wet!!! Bad design all around. I'm replacing this unit 2nite.

Customer Review: The cheapest insurance you'll ever buy!
Summary: 5 Stars

This device has saved me hundreds of dollars and countless hours of cleanup! My basement floods periodically. Before, we only found out when someone went downstarirs and stepped in water. Now, the alarm goes off when the problem starts (before it becomes a disaster) and we are able to stop the water and clean it up in a few minutes instead of days.

Customer Review: Works great!
Summary: 5 Stars

I wanted to buy a couple more of these after putting in hardwood floors, and I got a little worried reading the reviews. I pulled the two I put in 7 years ago and ran a little water in the sink and they go off fine. The batteries in them are 2 years old. I'm buying a few more to put behind the fridge and under the sink and dishwasher.

Customer Review: Worked for about 6 years
Summary: 3 Stars

Seemed to work for about 6 years, then the alarm sounder pooped out in 2004. It seems to still detect, but it's possible that the dust, dirt and humidity of the basement was too much for the alarm itself. I think I might try the remote - have the sensor in the basement and the actual alarm up somewhere drier and cleaner
