Customer Review: Smells like toxic chemical

The product is a neat idea, but the inside of the can smells like a toxic chemical. It's probably the foam padding. Don't get this if you don't want your jewelry or money or whatever else to smell like a toxic chemical. For me this item is unusable. I tried leaving it open for several days to air it out, but that was no help.
More and more of the things we buy smell terrible, and I just wonder whether it has to do with fact that nearly everything we get now is made in China, and China is one of the largest consumers of recyclable material, and in some cases the process to retrieve usable materials is extremely toxic. I believe this product was assembled in the USA, but I don't know where the foam padding came from.
Regardless of where this particular item was made, and regardless of whether the material is literally toxic, the fact is that it smells terrible and anything you store in it will smell the same. I really wish manufacturers would stop using foul smelling material.

Good quality - seems like the real product it's got foam on the top and button - and you can of course wrap some paper around objects so it doesn't make any noises when you pick it up.
It would be a waste of space if they had foam on the sides.
Its big wider then an ordinary spray can and it's therefore easy to put money inside. But it's just a bit to narrow for a credit card.
I bought this item for travelling. A word of advice - Don't leave it complete out in the open in a hotel room. On my last trip the cleaners actually threw out some of my cleaning stuff from the bathroom. I think putting it in a clear plastic bag with a bit of toothpaste will be safest way.
By the way I also bought some socks with a hidden pocket where you can put your credit card.

Customer Review: Jurassic Park made this product iconic; hence, frustrated purpose

Do you recall the scene in "Jurassic Park" when "Newman" from "Seinfeld" explained his plot to commit corporate espionage against his employer? His main device was the "Barbasol Can Safe." Jurassic Park is in iconic movie, seen by nearly every person in contemporary American society. The lesson? This product is no longer novel; rather, it's obvious. There is an excellent possibility that a crook will spot the can of Barbasol and remember "Newman's" plot from Jurassic Park. Hence, he'll try to unscrew the bottom of the can and voila - valuables found.
So there you have it. The idea itself is good, but unfortunately it's novelty has been spoiled due to product placement in a well known film. Hence, the can's purpose has been frustrated.

Lets see, if I were a burglar, where would I go to figure out where everyone hides their stuff?
In two seconds any 2-bit robber will realize that it will always pay to pick up any can of barbasol, ajax or fruit cocktail...
Even books...it would pay to just dump all books you see on the floor, the one that dumps your cash and gold is the jackpot!

I looked online for the real thing and this product does look exactly like it. And there's plenty of room. I guess the true test of this product for any great review is to get robbed. But I hope never to be in that position! It does buy me some peace of mind, and that is priceless.
