Customer Review: Simple, accurate, and bright

For defining a level reference in a complex or large space, this is the perfect tool. It is extremely easy to set up - with the exception of the tripod - and controls are very intuitive. It is self-levelling. There is a remote so you can control it at the spot where you are trying to match up with a reference. Brightness is excellent, and there is a "laser eye" for use outdoors or in bright light when it is difficult to see the laser. Although I have only used it a little so far, it seems quite rugged. 5 stars for the tool.My only beef is with the tripod - and maybe the one I was using isn't the one sold by Amazon, so maybe they have improved it. The problem is this: the laser level needs to be within spitting distance of level (5-10 degrees is my guess) to work. The tripod was not easy to get the bed level, and here's the real kicker: once level there is NO WAY to raise or lower the bed without moving the legs, thereby changing the levelness of the bed. Once you do that the laser has to re-level, taking time and it became hit or miss. This would be very easy to remedy with a center post that could be raised or lowered, as almost every photo tripod has. Unfortunately you can not use a photo tripod with this because the screw is 5/8" and photo tripods use 1/4". Tripod gets 2 stars.
