This filter is NOT a knock off of the original filter. Sprite changed it's replacement filter housing from white to clear, so you can see the filter media inside that does look like "tree bark". The original replacement filter had the "tree bark" media inside it also.

We have not had a problem with Sprite filters. The manufacturer of Sprite filters should thank me for explaining this to its customers, since I can find out anywhere else on the internet that this manufacturing change is explained.
