I've had this filter for 4 months now. I have very hard water and my hair & skin were suffering from it. I noticed a difference within about a week. I can still tell that the water is a little hard, but it has been noticeably decreased. I really liked that I could keep my own shower head too. It was very easy to install and I've had no leaks around the unit or where it attaches. There is a *slight* decrease in water pressure, but it hasn't been a problem for me. The unit is rather large (about 4 inches long). The pipe for my shower is relatively high so it hasn't mattered to me, but keep that in mind if you have a low shower head already. These filters work great in getting chlorine out of the shower water. (Important for my diabetic skin!!) They are rated for 10,000 gallons. The filter in the housing can be replaced (a money saver). We replace it about every 6 months.
My gripe is that it comes with teflon tape that is used to seal the connection and hubbie can never get it to not leak a bit.
The plastic filter unit can crack over time (one of ours lasted about 1 1/2 years and the second about 4 years).
The replacement filters should not be that expensive, in my opinion.
No problem with the water pressure dropping very slightly. I hardly noticed it.

The one problem was water leaking out where the two halves of the filter screw together. It had the appearance of having a place to put a small rubber O-Ring in there & then screw the two halves together, but it did not come with one, nor did the instructions & diagrams show any such thing. Anyway, I took ours to the hardware store & got a rubber O-Ring for this. It worked 100%. No more water leaking out the middle & the WATER PRESSURE went back to normal. Why they do not come with this rubber O-Ring is beyond me??? This is an easy & very cheap fix. The rubber O-Ring was about two dollars & it has lasted through several filters so far.Customer Review: Finally -- relief!!

For many years I had been suffering from horrible allergy attacks after getting out of the shower. I never understood why. Finally fed up, I did some research on-line and realized I could actually be allergic to the chlorine! I immediately ordered this filter but didn't have high hopes. Well, I can't hardly believe my luck! I no longer have sneezing attacks after my shower and I don't go through a half a box of Kleenex every night. It's amazing! A simple solution for a weird problem. I would highly recommend this to anyone suffering from the same crazy shower allergies as I was. Give it a shot!Customer Review: Excellent filter!

I have had no issues with this filter, and there is DEFINITELY a noticable decrease or elimination in chlorine smell during my showers. I can take a deep breath without feeling like I have to cough a little. I haven't really noticed a difference with my hair, but possibly my skin is less dry. Installation was easy. I got the white version because I have brushed nickel fixtures and thought the chrome would look funny. Honestly, now that I have it installed, it doesn't matter to me what color it is - no one is really looking at it and it works so dang good that I'm proud of it!
