This is a well made cast aluminum gauge which provides 2 functions. You can gauge the angle for a miter cut or a single cut. The tool has 2 legs which open so they can be set against a work surface then you just simply read the red or black scale depending upon what you want to do. I've installed trim moulding in our house which has multiple angled walls, this protractor saved me a lot of cuts in the mitter saw, not all cuts were 45 degrees exactly, couldn't have done it without this tool; Another rerason I like it is the fact that you can measure both inside as well as outside angles. HIghly recommend buying one, you won't be sorry.Customer Review: Gotta have one.

I had one of these before but couldn't find it so I bought another. It really comes in handy when your doing crown molding. It saves you from going up and down the ladder a hundred times making trial cuts or wasting a piece of material because the walls aren't built at the angles they're supposed to be. I ordered this thinking it was to good to be true...and found out it was. Starrett should be ashamed to put this product out. Any good woodworker is not going to put up with a tool that is +/- a degree. When I need accuracy I have always trusted Starrett, after this piece of junk I now question their integrity. The protractor is good for some things. The scale is way too small for much of any type work! I had intended or hoped it would be readable in 1/10ths of a degree. Sadly, this is not the case, the graphic showing this item was not large enough to verify the above mentioned. I will be looking at a digital protractor next.
