Tools and Hardware Reviews of Starrett 970 Holster for 505A-12 ProSite Dial ProtractorCustomer Review: Not up to Starrett standards... Summary: 2 Stars
The good:
-- Starrett Pro Site Protractor fits the holster perfectly
-- Holster facilitates carrying protractor on a belt up to 3 1/2" wide
-- Provides better protection than having no case at all
-- It's inexpensive.
The not good:
-- Imitation leather material is thin and cheap
-- Should have a protective flap over the end
-- Looks like it won't last long if used daily
Thought about sending it back, but it's not worth the effort to return a $5 item.
Should have had my wife make one.
Customer Review: It should have been included with the progractor Summary: 3 Stars
If you consider that you throw away more money then the cost of this holster -- Buy it!
I think that the holster is not as good as what it trying to protect. It could use many improvments; a flap/cover for the gage area, a little more padding in the material or maybe thicker, a belt loop that stop slapping your leg.
But it dosn't cost much -- Heck, is better than nothing!
And it might provide a *little* protection in the storage bin.
Customer Review: More durable material would be nice Summary: 2 Stars
This is basically a low end holster. For the low cost, what else would you expect, but I would pay more for a more heavy duty holster. Something that would hold up to "On The Jobsite" use. The weakest point is that nothing covers the face with the degree marks on it. That should be covered by a flap with a buckle or a tie to keep it from getting banged up. For now I just turn mine with the face towards the back, that keeps it safe and accurate.
Customer Review: Good idea, lousy construction Summary: 1 Stars
The holster is great to use and keeps the protractor handy and out of the way. Too bad Starrett didn't see the need to make this heavy duty. The stitching came undone on mine in about 3 weeks. I'll have to have it restitched. The vinyl is very thin and I don't expect it to last long either. I will probably have to have a seemstress/leather worker make one that is built for the job.
Customer Review: Nice pouch to protect your protractor! Summary: 4 Stars
Nice little padded pouch to protect your precious Starrett protractor while it sits in your tool box waiting to save you time on your next moulding project. It does have a built in loop for strapping onto your belt but the protractor slides in and out of the back pocket of your Wranglers a lot easier.
