The Starrett K145 hacksaw is made with precision parts & quality materials & uses a 12" blade.
The hacksaw grips design didn't place my knuckles too close to the vice or metal being cut.
The grips are comfortable & didn't leave my hands feeling tired, cramped or sore after using this saw.
The tension knob is built into the frame for comfort & turns easily. It takes approx 15-20 seconds to remove an old blade & fully tension a new blade.
The bright red & yellow make it easy to locate in the workshop.
The colors also serve as a reminder to work carefully & safely.
If permitted wear leather work gloves.
Starrett hacksaw blades are very high quality & cut metal with less force or blade pressure. They also out last several cheap hacksaw blades.
Poor quality junk hacksaw blades are dangerous & require more pressure to cut.
The final cutting strokes under this extreme pressure due to poor quality hacksaw blades can cause a person to lose control of any hacksaw design causing severe injury to the hand, forearm or knuckles.
Description of Starrett K145 12-Inch High Tension Hacksaw Frame with Closed Grip
Easy-to-use adjusting screw requiring minimal turns to tension the blade up to 28,000 p.s.i. (2,000 kgs/cm2). High-tension prevents twisting and binding of the blade when bearing down.
