I purchased this product back in the spring so I could garden a little easier as I have severe arthritis in my hips back and knees. this product actually allowed me to sit and get the weeds out with the support I needed as I am a plus size lady. I recently had full hip replacement surgery and needed a shower chair in order to bathe. My bathtub is a one piece fiberglass smaller tub enclosure and every other shower chair was too large to fit in the tub and threatened to puncture the fiberglass with my weight limitations. We used this bench and it worked beautifully. I can't say enough about this awesome versatile product! I also used it during my recovery to sit while I did many household tasks as it was lightweight enough for me to move from room to room. I'm anxious to see how many other applications besides gardening I can use this for in the future! I purchased this one for my Mom after she admired the one I had bought for my husband a couple of years ago. She loves it! I've checked out a couple of other models and they don't have the overall durability that this one has. For the record, my husband has rarely used the one I bought for him, but I use it a lot. I kneel in the garden with it to protect my knees while planting seeds. I use the legs/side bars to push myself up after a long bout of pulling weeds and salt grass. I use it as a stool to step up to water my hanging plants, sit on it to groom the dog, and a variety of other outdoor tasks. The foam pad has blown around the yard several times and no longer stays stuck on the bottom side of the stool but it hasn't gotten hard or crumbled in our Nevada desert sun. Our seat is always outside in the elements and has held up very well. I recommend it as a very thoughtful gift for the gardener of any age on your gift list.Customer Review: Great Garden Accessory

With my achy breaky knees I needed something to kneel on or sit on for my garden chores. The Step 2 Garden Kneeler/Seat fills the bill for me. What I like best about the kneeler is that one can use the legs for support while kneeling or standing up. Assembly was very easy with the two end pieces snapping onto the seat. Velcro is used to fasten the foam cushion to the bottom of the seat.
The seat is a little higher than I thought it would be, but the height does make standing a little easier. Because of its light weight, the kneeler/seat is easy to carry about. The user is warned NOT to stand on the chair. I occasionally stand on it, and it holds my 190 pounds fairly well. If I weighed much more, I don't think I'd want to stand on it. The maximum weight on seat for sitting is 300 pounds.
Incredibly this unit is made in the USA!

For years, it has been a struggle to get down near the ground and/or floor to weed, plant seeds in the garden, scrub, etc.. Now it's a breeze! This is one of the best purchases I've made in my lifetime. If I want to get close to the ground, for example, I hold on to the sides of the kneeler and gently lower myself unto the pad and comfortably kneel while the work is being done. Then I hold on to the sides to quickly get up again (notice the "quickly"). If I want to just sit lower than a normal chair to work, I turn the kneeler over and sit on it.
The kneeler is comfortable and sturdy in both positions. I should mention that I'm in my seventies, and a hefty person. A younger/slimmer person may not need the support, but this kneeler has been a boundless blessing for me.

I have one, my elderly parents have one, and so do my in-laws. The second and third were gifts from me. I have a very bad back and tote this bench everywhere.
Admittedly I don't bother with the kneeling cushion, as it wouldn't be possible for me to get up anyway. I did notice that the cushion didn't attach all that well, but a little good epoxy and additional Velcro would fix that.
My clever dad did one thing to his and I promptly copied him. Using screws, he attached a metal handle to each side of the stool towards the top (a handle like you would use to open a gate). This enables it to be picked up easily, moved, or carried. I know there is a place to pick it up in the center of the seat, but this little addition has proved invaluable.
