Customer Review: Great storage for light things

I bought this because we don't have a garage and needed to store some cleaning products, gardening items, and my steam cleaner. It fits all of those things without having trouble. I love that it has adjustable shelves and that is how I was able to place my Hoover Steam cleaner inside one of them. Its sturdy construction for plastic but you will need to place heavy items on the bottom floor of the unit to prevent tip over.
I think a price of over $80 is a bit much for this product as it is only plastic. I luckily paid about $69 in September 2010.
I wouldn't store heavy objects on the higher shelves, I have three jugs of bleach on the shelf above the bottom of the unit and its bowing a bit.
Assembly was very easy even for a disabled person such as myself. No tools required and I only needed help to place them. They are not secure storage so no storing of anything you deem valuable if its outside.
I cannot speak on whether they are water proof as they are in a covered carport but are still some what exposed to the elements and have held up well. I have only had them since September 2010.
I would recommend this product to anyone wanted additional storage
Customer Review: Pretty good after gluing & Taped

The box we received this in was all ripped like someone had taked a shedder to it along with the instructions but I taped it, (the instructions) & continued to check to see if the product was OK. Well it looked ok but as I began to lay out A, B, C, D,etc., I notice the one shelf was cracked and told the company. They asked me what I wanted to do and I wanted to see how bad it was and If I could still use it. I was given a small credit I believe but never checked. Then I took sand paper & slid it between the crack to roughen it up & glued it. The crack was in an area where it was to be snapped together so It didn't seem that it would weaken the cabinet. Then As I was getting the top put together snapped to the bottom there was another crack in the back upper box right where it fits into the bottom cabinet and after a few min. I finally snapped it into place using a flathead screw driver. Again because it was the upper cabinet I was in too much pain to bother sending it back but truly just had to let you know what happen. If I wasn't in so much pain I would have sent it back.
Also I found it cheaper at homedepot or lowes.
Customer Review: Amazingly Better Than I Expected

Even with the large number of good reviews, I bought this cabinet with low expectations. I would have bought a metal cabinet were it not for the issue of rust and corrosion. I doubted that a plastic utility cabinet could be sturdy and have strength enough to be truly useful. When I began to unpack the plastic panels, my doubts multiplied. The panels seemed flimsy. However, when I was halfway through the assembly, which goes fast and is actually quite simple, I could see that the cabinet was going exceed my expectations by a large margin.
The engineering of this product is excellent. The panels assemble to a rigid structure. The instructions are complete and easy to follow. Each shelf is rated to hold 40 pounds and I can easily believe this is accurate. It is actually a joy to see that a product is so well made and fulfills all that is claimed for it by the manufacturer. I only write reviews for items that I really like or which have greatly disappointed me. I think you can see that in the case of the Sterilite Utility Cabinet, it was the former that inspired me.

If you want an elegant and extremely durable storage, this is not the cabinet for you.
Cons:
*The plastic is fairly durable, yet one unit arrived with a small crack in one section. I called the number listed & received the replacement within a few days.
*We are using these in the kitchen and kids' play area and while they are not an eyesore they do not look warm and inviting as wood. This does not bother us, but may be a sticking point for some.
*The tabs upon which the shelves rest seem strong enough if you don't exceed the 40lb limit, but I might recommend staying closer to 30 lbs. I say this because the tabs are built into the side pieces and if they break it will limit your organizing options. Since our units are new, I can't say what the track record is with these tabs and the weight limit in the specs.
Final analysis: This is perfect for our needs.
Customer Review: Great Utility Cabinet for storage or pantry, lightweight and sturdy

We own two of these utility cabinets now. The first one we have had for years and it has held up really well. The second on we just purchased because we liked the first one so much.
This cabinet has 4 large shelves that can be moved to suit your storage needs. Each shelf can hold up to 40 lbs but I personally wouldn't put anything that heavy in it because it will eventually cause the shelf to bend.
You will have to assemble this cabinet but the instructions are easy to understand and it doesn't take long to assemble. I think it took me about 15 minutes. All the pieces are labeled and simply snap together. I caution you to be sure that you are connecting the right pieces or it is rather difficult to take back apart.
Once assembled this cabinet is quite sturdy considering it's made from plastic. In my opinion plastic is good though because it doesn't get damaged easily, it can be easily cleaned and it won't rust if you have it in a damp garage or basement.
