I found this shoe cubby to be easy, if time consuming to put together (I did not require a rubber mallet as one reviewer said they did). Careful attention to the instructions must be made.
It's sturdy, with plenty of room for my shoes. (The individual spaces are around the size of an average shoebox. Adult shoes will not fit side by side, but then, neither can they fit that way in most shoeboxes.)

I wish I spent more money on a better organizer. It was nearly impossible to put together. I bought 2 units and it took at least 3 hours. I had to bang it into place with a hammer to get it to stay, and there's no way I'd reconfigure it now that it's set up. That said, it does hold most of my shoes (except sneakers) quite well. The customizable shoe cubby is a great idea and works very well. However it was extremely difficult to put together. The individual pieces were not always square and just did not fit together very well. And the connectors had to be pounded into place. It did not just snap together like it looked like it should.Customer Review: Awful

I bought two sets and one of them was missing over 30 connectors, so I ended up building one cubby with as many connectors as I had. The design is simple, but the assembly is really annoying, because the connectors are hard to insert. It was a bit annoying to put together, but was perfect color-wise for my toddler's 'boy' room. I would not consider this a good solution for adult shoes, however; for a kids room and a mom who buys too many shoes for her little one, it is the perfect fit.
