I was a little skeptical when I opened the box this item came in and discovered it was not assembled, and that the material seemed questionable. But after assembling the product I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was in fact very sturdy, and will support some of my heavier shoes (like older doc martens) with no sagging.
I really like the idea that it is customizable with regard to number of cubes high vs. wide. And you can also shape the cube size to allow for taller boots. I have been using this item for over a month with no problems.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars vs. 5 is that it took me a little over an hour to put it together. Some of the connectors where rather stiff and didn't want to go together very easily, but with a little forcefulness they did.

My biggest "complaint" about this product was the assembly. After an hour or more of trying my best I had to turn it over to my husband. He had it assembled within 30 minutes. The instructions are easy enough to follow, but the plastic bits just don't go together easily. My hands were bruised for a couple of days from trying to cram, and pound them into submission! But, like I said, my husband had little problem. I suppose his fingers and patience are stronger than mine.
Once assembled, I was very happy. As for the sizing issue...the shoes don't fit in side by side, but both shoes do fit similarly to the way most shoes fit into a shoebox. You just have to turn them to fit. Overall, I am happy with my purchase.

This shoe cubby does have great possibilities for storage options, since you can put it together anyway you like. But it is extremely hard to put together. You really need to put some effort to get the pieces to click. And if the pieces aren't lined up in perfect 90 degree angles the whole thing gets thrown off and falls apart. But then again I am not mechanical, and I'm a weak girl with carpal tunnel. I had great expectations to put it together to fit my closet. But it was so time consuming I just put it together in a 3x5 square to get it over with. Overall, I like it and it fits great in my small closet and I don't regret purchasing it. Just make sure you are in the mood when you assemble it!Customer Review: Way too small for anything except baby shoes

I wear size 9 and cannot fit a pair of my shoes in one box .. they won't even fit in it sideways. It doesn't matter if it's tennis shoes, dress shoes or whatever, this product is not made for adult (men or women) shoes. 1 shoe per box will fit but not a pair of shoes.
Even if it was the right size, putting together the first box was not easy. The plastic pegs hold the structure together so just imagine yourself trying to push in 8 pegs to make a box. Then once you're done try to push in the back piece without it popping back out.
If you have shoes for babies then maybe you'll be happy with this product. I do not recommend this product at all, and am returning it asap.
Customer Review: VERY difficult to build but nice once built

These seem like a great idea but when I opened the box and realized I'd have to build it I had second thoughts. Then I started and almost sent it back. I just finished a total remodeling of my kitchen and putting these together was the hardest and most frustrating I've ever been. Also I couldn't find any instructions until I was on the 3rd level and they appeared stuck on one of the pieces, even though I'd searched for them when I opened the box. The finished product works nice in the closet but the built is awful. They need to rethink the plastic pieces, perhaps use hard rubber that would give a little bit so they'd be easier to get on. If you're not handy or impatient, don't buy these.
