Customer Review: Any type of DISHWASHER LIQUID works just as well for stinky washer

Don't pay premium money for these "specialty" cleaners. Just run an empty load cycle once a month or week (depending on how much you use your clothes washer) using REGULAR LIQUID DISHWASHER SOAP. - use about the same amount or a bit less than you would use in the dishwasher. You can put the dishwasher soap directly into the washer tub instead of the washer soap dispenser. The enzymes in the dishwasher soap will clean out any funky smell and get everything nice and clean. think about it- with all the muck that goes in your dishwasher, why is it not 5x as stinky as your clothes washer?? it's the detergent.
Tips:
1. leave front load washer door open a crack after doing washes. this will let the tub dry out / prevent stink.
2. use less liquid detergent. using too much liquid detergent is a cause of stink.
We had stinky washer all the time, I run an empty cycle once per month with a couple of capfuls of dishwasher liquid, and adhere to #1 and #2 above, and we have never had the stink return. Our front load washer is 8 years old.

our > 2-year-old maytag HE frontloader was mildew and smelled 'funky' due to IGNORANCE. firstly, i used way too much of HE 2x detergent, even though i followed the recommended amount. it take a reliable service professional for our frontloader to give me a heads up on the amt. since i'm using HE 2x detergent, i should be only using a tablespoon amt to a full load. the kind gentleman also gave me a bottle of WASHER MAGIC to take out the mildew and smell. i used the whole bottle after wiping out as much as i could the mildew on the rubber strip. then i put it on sanitation cycle. man, i can't believe my eyes. the mildew and mold is gone and our FL smelled CLEAN! our local hardware stores or lowes do not carry this product. i have to order it from amazon sellers. since then, i only used WASHER MAGIC every 2 months for maintenance, everytime, i used it - i'll not do any laundry washing ... just wipe down and leave the door open - like giving the FL a 'day-off' ;p also, NO MORE using too much 2x detergent on my laundry ever again!Customer Review: It got the job done!

We have very hard water, and the inner tub of our top-loading washer had developed mineral deposits after five years of use. It also had a buildup of this flaky gray stuff (that would crumble to powder when ground between the fingers), presumably in the outer tub. My main goal was to get rid of the gray flaky residue, as it was getting into the clothes as well as past the dryer's lint filter. After two bottles of Washer Magic (I used the extra rinse cycle each time), both the mineral deposits on the inner tub and the flaky residue were almost completely gone. Now I no longer hear that "sandy rattle" every time my dryer starts up; the clothes are residue-free. Five-plus stars for this terrific product.Customer Review: Washer Magic lives up to its name.

I had yellow stains inside my less than two year old washer... presumably rust, though I'm not sure... and was hesitant to use a rust remover for fear that it would eat away the finish. I saw this at my local hardware store and figured it was worth a shot. The first bottle (yes, you have to use an entire bottle each time, so buy at least two) took 90% of it out. The second removed it all. Money well spent...my washer looks great inside. Will always keep a bottle on hand now. Buy this stuff without hesitation.Customer Review: Great for HE Washer Odor!

We found Washer Magic to be very helpful with our chronic HE washer odor problem. Running bleach-only cycles gave us very short-term relief. We did 2 "magic" cycles (1 bottle each) and found the washer (and our clothes!) to be free of the musty odor that our front-loader had been plagued with. We have since ordered a case and use a bottle every month or so when the washer starts to smell again.
