Customer Review: Worked for only 1 Month! What a Disappointment!!!

I am writing because I purchased the Aquasauna Shower System and am very disappointed. I live in Los Angeles where the water quality is terrible. Everytime I would get out of the shower, my legs would itch so bad that I would have to immediately lather on cream and baby oil just to stop the itching. I purchased this system after doing research and finding that it was the highest rated filter. We received a bottle (the filter) and two showerheads, one metal and one plastic. We attached the filter bottle and the plastic showerhead. For about a month, the shower system was wonderful! I got out of the shower and did not itch. However, that was about as long as it lasted. I get out of the shower now and my legs are itching once again. I am so very disappointed!!! I have contacted the company via email to let them know about my experience and inquire if possibly we got a defective filter and can exchange. I am waiting for their response. I need a filter and would pay ANY amount of money for one that works and will last a reasonable amount of time, but one month is just ridiculous! I purchased based on the majority of reviews. All I can say is this filter has not worked for us! Please heed my advice! If this is supposed to be the best, I don't know what the solution is.

I've used this product for a couple of years now, and can honestly say that it does work. My husband and I both have sensitive skin, and noticed a difference right away. Shampoo washes out of my thick hair with ease, it's not as dry as it was w/out the filter, the chlorine smell is gone, and our skin isn't as dry. But, I'm only giving them 3 stars for their lack of innovation in the design of the product. For one, it leaks a tad where you screw it in to the pipe. For another, it is very bulky and heavy. Most importantly, they really need to come up with a program to recycle the replacement filters. The outer shell of the filter is made of thick plastic that is disposable. What a shame; for all of their touting on their website about the dangers of bottled and tap water [...] , it would make sense to go one step further and make their own products eco-friendly. After all, isn't it defeating the purpose of filtering chemical laden water if the chemicals and petroleum used to create these filters are a part of the problem? This goes for the whole house system that they sell as well, which must be trashed after about five years and replaced with a whole new unit. That's a big hunk of plastic! Hopefully, Aquasana will eventually catch on, and do the right thing.Customer Review: Excellent Product

At this point I've showered through twenty of these filters without a problem. I once tried to smash one open to examine the inside (an expired one, of course). I used a hammer and gave it several blows. Would you believe that the plastic would not crack? I cannot understand one reviewer saying that this item is poorly made. I am very satisfied with this product which I use to ward off the harmful effects of chlorine.
Installation: Follow the instructions; you should be okay. You're going to need teflon tape, otherwise known as "plumber's tape". This is an ultra thin white tape which assures a good connection, available at any hardware store, Lowes or Home Depot. Buy it, then ask someone in the plumbing department to show you how to use it.
The adjustable showerhead was too snug at first, but eventually loosened so that it could easily be turned left, right, up or down. Absolutely no loss in water pressure, quite possibly even stronger. The variance is from needle shower to wide spray; I generally use something in between, though I do appreciate a good needle shower every once in a while. Care to join me? Please respond. Females only, under twenty-six.

I bought one of these a year ago and noticed an immediate elimination of chlorine odor, and the water seems softer. (We are in a small water district in the mountains where the water is very hard and heavily chlorinated). It is very easy to install, just keep in mind that plumbing fixtures are not meant to be torqued down like the bolts on an auto engine. Snug is tight enough, if it leaks, snug it down just a little more. This will prevent this unit (or any other plumbing fixture) from cracking. Yes, it does take a couple of minutes for the charcoal to flush out during initial use. But the charcoal doesn't stain. Mine came with an extra Grohe shower head, which I like. There is no reduction in water pressure with the unit and Grohe shower head, in fact, it feels like it has more pressure than the old shower head sans filter. After a year of use I did not notice any chlorine smell in the water, but I thought I should replace the filter anyway. When I decided to replace the filter, I bought an entire new unit and relegated the old one to the 2nd bath. In my opinion this is a very well engineered product that works. And it doesn't lower the shower head like competing designs. (I'm 6'5", I don't like squatting while washing my hair).Customer Review: A MONEY SAVER

I would like to start by saying I do not work for Aquasana. We received our 4100 from Amazon about 2 weeks ago. Some of the reviews on Amazon scared me but the people that loved the filter won me over. I did use plumbers tape (Teflon tape) during the installation. The installation itself was extremely easy. Some of the bad reviews made it sound like it nightmare waiting to happen but I had no problems. My wife noticed a difference in her hair (extremely long and thick) after the fourth shower. She weaned herself off and is no longer using any conditioner on her hair. That is saving me just over $30 every 4 to 6 weeks. Her hair combs right out with no tangles after showering and is extremely soft (and sexy).
The showerhead and filter have good water flow. We use it to fill the bathtub when we want to soak in hot water.
Overall, this product is an excellent purchase. We purchased it through Amazon because of the bad reviews of Aquasana's returns on defective units.
One last note: Guys, you can buy and install this on your anniversary, but, do not buy it for her anniversary present. She will love the filter long before she forgives you.
