Tools and Hardware Reviews of Aquasana AQ-4100 Deluxe Shower Water Filter System with Adjustable Showerhead

Customer Review: Highly recommend!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have long, chemically treated hair. Ever since I moved to LA it has been severely dry and brittle b/c of the chlorine and minerals in the water. I've tried expensive shampoos & conditioner but nothing helped until now. This water filter is AWESOME! It's the ONLY thing that has helped and makes such a big difference! My hair feels SO much softer, and even looks cleaner. I noticed it after 1 wash! I never write reviews, but I was so excited about this I had to share. It was easy to install and the initial carbon residue flushes out in a couple minutes as described in the directions. I was concerned about losing water pressure, but it's great. If you have long, dry hair and live in a big city you should definitely try this. It's worth every penny.

Customer Review: Shower Filter that works
Summary: 5 Stars

I never knew the difference in water by location, until I visited LA. After showering down there, my skin became very dry. I did some research and found that this product was at the top of the list when it came to shower filter experiences. There are other ones out there, but this one was well documented. I ended up purchasing the unit to see if it would help a skin condition. I haven't used the unit long enough to notice, but I can say that there is a noticeable difference in the way my skin and hair feels.

My skin is more moist and softer to the touch than without the filter. The steam that forms smells fresher and the shower head provides a nice stable stream. Overall a great product and I hope to report back with my long term results.

Customer Review: no difference, and bad filter failure design
Summary: 2 Stars

my hair responds badly to hard water. Every time I visit another country (anywhere in europe, south america), my hair's noticeably in better condition than when I shower at home (I'm very grateful for nyc having one of the cleanest water in the world, but it wreaks havoc on my hair) After using aquasana for 6 months, I did not notice any difference. Not only that, metallic shavings were being emitted from the water after 6 months. I know that the filter's supposed to be changed, but you'd expect their engineers to design the product to not fail in such a way after the filter's expiration. Is there not a better way for the filter to fail? I do not want pieces of metal in my shower water if I happen to forget the exact week of filter expiration.

Customer Review: Sadly, this filter does not work for long
Summary: 2 Stars

I have had this shower filter for a little over a year. The first filter unit worked pretty well. I replaced it about 4-5 months ago. Recently it began to spew water sideways from the seam between the filter and the piece that attaches to the plumbing pipe. Tonight I took it apart and cleaned all of the surfaces that screw together. When I turned on the water it spewed BROWN water from that same seam. It looks to me like the filter will no longer allow water to go through it and is sending water sideways through the seam. This particular filter is not old enough to be replaced and therefore I don't understand why it is apparently blocked up. My evaluation is: this product is a waste of money because it does not last much longer than a year.

Customer Review: Filters the chlorine with no water pressure drop
Summary: 5 Stars

I'm really impressed with this filter. I switched from another 2.5 gpm shower head and felt absolutely no water pressure drop. In fact, it practically blasted me across the shower, increasing the pressure if anything. It does take slightly longer to rinse, but I suspect that it may be softening the water which causes soap to foam more. My skin is much softer after showering. I also noticed I have an easier time breathing in the shower without the swimming pool chlorine smell. I didn't realize before that my asthma was tightening up my lungs whenever I showered. To top it off, it was very easy to install. Overall, I'm very pleased. (Oh, and I'm not in San Francisco anymore. The water here in Pennsylvania is MUCH, MUCH worse)
