First off give it a 4 because i also had to bend the blades to opposite direction for air flow, i found it was noisy and after several attempts to quieten noise i finally put a deep angle on blades so it would cut into the air and slow the fan. Yes it still moves at least the same air maybe more but im sure it stresses the motor more but it is worth it, in comparison it is about as load as a higher end pc with several fans in case now before it was the same as the vent units over stoves maybe more noise not acceptable in a room i was sleeping in.
If you remove the blades two things to check make that three don't remove blades if you are not too bright or have it plugged in, put blades on flat surface spin and take a visual check for proper alignment with blades ie make sure the curvature is the same for each blade and they are of equal height from table top or you will get a huge vibration, also there is a collar for the blades to attach to the shaft mine was loose had to whack it with a hammer on an anvil to tighten it up had an extremely irritating rattle and that was the source.
I know all that sounds daunting but it really is simple.
All and all for the money i would say buy this i mean it's what around 40 bucks much cheaper than most other solutions i found.
Also the cord can be on outside facing fan or run back to other side of the wall and i believe the hole was just over 7.5 ?? 7.6 inches make sure you have the room
