We bought one of these (Not from Amazon) and it is as bad and worse as all these reviews say. The water is not contained in a tank it is just poured directly into the base of the unit and ours had a hairline crack where the foot-caster was attached. So we returned it for another. We opened it up at the store and inspected it - looked fine. We got home and filled it with water and it started leaking all over the floor from two separate new hairline cracks. We will be returning this second one today and looking for something entirely different.Customer Review: great product great price

I bought this (almost 2 years ago now) to use for my bedroom which never cools well in the Texas heat. You do need to use ice if you want it to cool the room, adding water only just doesn't do enough to combat the heat. But I run it at night and in the morning I can tell a noticable difference in the temp when i leave the bedroom. For the price you really can't beat it. If you can afford to spend $500 on a portable air conditioner thats great, for the rest of us this is a great option :)Customer Review: Ineffective cooler - SPT SF-610

I purchased the SPT SF-610 from a local retailer on 1 July 2009 and returned it on 5 July.
This item has many nice features but it is not a good cooler.
I used it at different times of the day with the temperature ranging between 75°F and 106°F; it did not offer any cooling effect when the temperature was over 85°.
The motor is quiet but the fan running at medium or high is rather noisy.

This product is not refundable, even in 10day from receiving it, which Amazon should clearly show it. Or are they all telling you a lie? AcePhotoDigital, vender and Sunpentown don't work for your return. This is not working even in hot and dry area in Utah. It is difficult to clean up and very noisy.Customer Review: Lacks Cooling

I know I shouldn't expect much because of the price but this is more like a fan than a cooler. After adding water and the ice packs, you really don't notice the cooling and it's a bit loud. Save your money and buy a "real" room air conditioner if you need cooling.
