I have no idea how this product compares for efficacy with the siding cleaners I've seen in hardware stores -- and I don't care. When I've read the fine print on the label, all the other products I've seen contain NaOH -- sodium hydroxide, lye, drain cleaner. They may do wonderful work cleaning siding, but the stuff is very caustic. When those products are sprayed on the house, there's a risk of some of the spray coming back, or pooling on the ground. That's more of a risk than I care to take.
This product is detergent based, and is safe for users and pets. It can get on your skin and clothing with no harm -- although eye protection is strongly advised.
While I can't offer a comparison with the other cleaners, either for cost or effectiveness, it does work. Sometimes removing mold requires a bit of brushing, but I've never had to do any heavy scrubbing, and I've never found any dirt of mold growth that it didn't deal with satisfactorily.
Again, product safety is #1, and so far I haven't found a comparable product that can compare.
