Customer Review: Don't buy this from DS Solutions

I mistakenly bought this from DS Solutions instead of Survivalkits. If you get this from DS Solutions, when you receive it make sure everything that was advertised was included. The 5 in 1 whistle, 16 function knife, and waterproof matches were not in there. Instead I got a razor blade, a cheap plastic whistle with no other functions and matches in a plastic bag. I have contacted the seller and am awaiting a reply.
Also, the radio is pretty chinsy.They left the price tag on and it was worth 2 dollars. It requires headphones and batteries which actually were included.
Other than that it looks okay. I'm going to have to add a hand crank radio, a emergency candle and other odds and ends like cards.
***Update*** After a couple of phone calls and emails I eventually got the missing items minus the waterproof matches. DS Solutions also sent some extra stuff. That being said I would not buy from this company again. It was more hassle than it was worth and I feel like the items they sent were cheap and not durable. I wish I paid the 10 bucks more and went with Survivalkits.

I really love this kit because it give me peace of mind having a comprenhensive, easy take along pack to grab in case of an emergency. I know that my husband and I are prepare when disaster occurs. I purchase the kit from SurvivalKitsOnline shortly before the fires occured in our area this year and I was suprised at how well it was packaged and how many different products were included. I only added a supply of our medication and some extra personal things to the pack and we were ready to go if necessary. We have since purchased a pack for our children and they loved it. The packs would make a very thoughtful, caring gift for any loved one. I like the idea for newlyweds or new home buyers. Not everyone thinks about being prepared.
By the way please don't listen to the comment about using bottled water instead of the water SurvialKitsOnline provides in there packs. It is common knowledge that plastic bottles don't have a long shelf live (the water provided has a 5 year shelf life) and plastic bottles break down if exposed to sunlight and can cause breast cancer in women.

While waiting for my order to arrive I read the latest reviews of this item. WOW was I surprised. The number of people complaining it to took so long to get. I was worried that would happen to me. Some said "they give the same answer... due to earthquake in Japan...." so I looked back further at their reviews. I found that they had a stellar reputation prior to the earthquake and isn't reasonable to think a survival supply company may be busy after a disaster? Patience is a virtue that needs to be developed. I thought I wouldn't let those who put themselves first over those in need influence my purchasing decisions. I contacted the seller, received the standard response and then asked for the expected date and it arrived as promised, today. Everything in the pack was as described. I'm not disappointed that I had to wait.. gee 3 days longer than the estimated delivery date. I wasn't prepared for a disaster 3 weeks before my order and now I have a great start to my survival plan. Thanks.Customer Review: They ruined their own reputation!

I placed an order on their web site survivalkitsonline.com on 03/17/2011 for several in-stock items. Waited for 2 weeks before I made a phone call and I was given the same "excuses" as you can read on their feedbacks. Interestingly, I was told that they will ship out the items next day and I should receive it in 2 days. That was one week ago. Today, 04/07/2011, I made another call, listen through the lengthy "greeting" message and holding for a "customer service" staff to come to the phone. Well, they gave up first and I was directed to voice mail after more than 5 minutes' wait... Apparently, they cannot handle all the orders they received, but continue to claim items as in-stock, and would not be honest with their customers. They quickly ruined their reputation by their own acts.... a deadly mistake for any business. Think hard and harder before you buy anything from this seller.Customer Review: Very Impressed!

I wasn't sure what to expect when I ordered this kit but I'm very impressed with it. Based on some of the reviews I was expecting some of the products to be really junky or of inferior quality but they seem decent enough to me. For example, yes the emergency whistle is plastic but it seems like it will do what I need it to do in an emergency which is what I want. I don't plan on using it to referee games or use it on any type of frequent basis.
The bag is heavier than I thought it would be but then again I don't intend to hike anywhere with it. I just want to be able to grab it and get out of the house in case of an earthquake.
I'm going to get another bag to keep in my car.
It's a good product. Thumbs up.
