I am very glad I found this. It puts Intermatic timers to shame. There is nothing the least bit intuitive about Intermatics and any time I wanted to change the time, I had to find the instructions. That was no fun because the print is so small I always got out a magnifying glass to read them, plus a flashlight to help read the Intermatic display. So the Intermatics came on at strange times, and it was too much trouble to do anything about it. I won't have a problem with using the Swylite. I just programmed it, and it was easy.
Installing this was easy for me too, but it's not just a matter of swapping out the same wires as on a normal switch; you need to use the neutral wires too.
I am very glad there is no battery to wear out like on some Intermatics. I think the battery on the Intermatic drove a relay and it used up battery power every time the load went on or off. When the battery was dead, you couldn't flip the lights.
None of my Intermatic switches, like the timers on my Intermatic low-voltage lighting transformers, ever lasted more than a couple years. I don't know how long my Swylite will last, but frankly I don't care that much, because they aced the ease-of-use test, and I learned the hard way how important that is.
