Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sylvania DOT-it Red Self-Adhesive Bright White Red LED LightCustomer Review: Easy to install & use, but could be brighter. Summary: 3 Stars
I purchased these lights to put under my kitchen cabinets to illuminate where my overhead lights could not reach. (Mainly to help to light recipes, cookbooks, etc.) They were extremely easy to install (peel and stick!) and are very easy to use, but I was a little disappointed with their brightness. I had to put 4 in a row under my main workspace cabinets to supply any usable amount of light, and I still wish they were a bit brighter. However, they are a good temporary solution until we can afford hardwired lights! These are good for places that need a little bit of light, but not bright enough to be relied on for a main source for reading or detailed work.
Customer Review: A great advancment in lighting! Summary: 4 Stars
I buoght two of these for my closset and i have to say i'm extremly impressed. With a quick tap they limuniate a suprisingly large area. They have adhesive sitckers on their backs that you just peel off and plob them on the wall. The batteries are stored under the light and a conection with them is made only while the light is on eliminating the ambient power draw that some lights have. I have not tried to take one off my wall yet so i don't know how well the "pull it off and stick it back up again and again" works or if it does at all. My only neg is that the batteries seem very hard to replace, this is why 4 stars. Just a final note Menards sells these for $8.
Customer Review: Great, little light! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a hurricane and power outage county so am always on the lookout for practical, emergency lighting. It's not the initial cost but battery cost and availability that is most important. Three little triple A batteries keep this going for days! So it's economical to actually use....not just save for emergencies. It also happens to be a great little "book light" by the bed when you want to read a little without getting up and turning lites on....or bothering a sleeping partner. It's a focused lite rather than wide angle so puts the lite where you need it. A great little light.
Customer Review: Bright light, just in one direction Summary: 3 Stars
In short, over time as batteries weaken, the light also weakens. It's very bright at first, but led's are fairly directional, meaning it lights up a spot (like a flashlight) rather than giving off light in all directions (like a lamp).
I bought them for emergency lights when power goes out - great for this - gives enough light to see and lasts a long time.
Tried putting one in my kids playhouse in the basement, but it doesn't light up a broad area, just a small spot. Therefore, it's not good for adding general light to brighten up small spaces.
Customer Review: Great light, but dosn't stick well in my truck Summary: 3 Stars
These are great little lights. They put out a lot of bright light for their size. However, I stuck two of them to the inside of my truck's bed cover. They stuck for about two days before they fell off. So, I would not recommend using them in a place that gets a lot of movement.
I accidentally ran over one of them. It did not break the bulbs or the cover, but it did bent the metal case such that I could not turn it off. I have not tried to disassemble the unit to see if I can bend the case back such that it will start working again.
