Customer Review: A well designed light

The Sylvania DOT lights are wonderful- they are powerful, sturdy, and very compact in size. The 3 lamp design creates a much brighter display than any other similar product, and the variety of color options pleases most.
The negatives are few: The adhesive back makes changing the battery a pain, as the case anchors are very small screws. The unit must be ripped from the surface it is attached to to access them, and then you need a tiny philips head screwdriver...
The other minor detail is that the light is a spot rather than a flood- very well concentrated- like a flashlight beam. It'd have been nice to offer a diffuse light for areas that need light in wide areas.
All in all, these things are pretty good for the money- I'd buy 'em again.

Not much to say about this unit, other than it is is a great piece of technology. The battery seems to last quite a while and the light is actually bright enough to read by.
I use one in my Home Theater room when changing DVD's and using remotes, so I don't need to turn the lights on. A simply push on the top and you have instant light. I've used one for several months with no battery drain at all.
I also take one with us when we go out of town and use it as a reading light in Hotels...it's perfect for that as well.
As a bonus, the unit makes an excellent flashlight when you need it during a power outage, etc.
Portable, fits in your pocket if needed, good battery life, looks nice, easy to use...it's a winner, Uncle Willie

and they were bright for me, but I found that the adhesive wouldn't let the paper come off to adhere is to anything. So I've just used it as a flashlight and as a booklight when the lights are off so I don't bother my husband at night. I would imagine that if these were to be used as kitchen underlighting, then you'd have to clean the area first to make sure there as no residual cooking grease to keep it from sticking...if the paper would come off. I threw the instructions away (dumb) before I needed to replace the batteries and so will have to figure that out. But at least I can easily hide this light from my husband and kids who can never find where they left their own flashlights and want to "borrow" another (one to leave somewhere they'll never be found again!).Customer Review: Use is limited

My old cabin of a house has no lighting in the closets. I thought this might be the answer, but it was only a partial answer. The special adhesive doesn't do well on polished wood, so the light kept falling off the closet wall. I solved this by putting a small square of hook and loop on it. Because of its size, it doesn't provide a great deal of illumination; I can see the tops of my garments, but not the shoes on the floor. I could add a couple more lights, but don't want to have to turn on 3 or 4 lights (including one at the bottom), find my clothes, then turn them all off again. I am still considering purchasing a couple more for under-shelf task lighting at the office. They work, but think about where you want to use them before buying.Customer Review: The lighitng King!

While the product is designed to be mounted on a particular spot (under a book shelf, in closet, any place were running an electrical wiring can be a hustle, any place were you are not intending to read fine print far away from the light source), I have discovered its ultimate use for school projects - lighting design class 1:1! This is a GREAT light source for lighting design project simulations. Its compact size and independent energy source (batteries) makes this light an excellent pocket companion. Its intense white light adds a bit of brilliance to the projects. The Sylvania DOT-it Black Self-Adhesive Bright White LED Light is a awesome LED light source example of a quality of light in a "puck".
