I purchased two of these. The LED screen of the first one I hooked up failed in about two minutes. I called the manufacturer customer help line included in the packaging. They said to purchase new batteries and see if that works. I'm so glad to be of service to troubleshoot their quality issues. Very annoying when a brand new item fails within a couple of minutes. Engineering, manufacturing and consistant quality control issues here. Anyway, the new batteries cost another 5 bucks. Installed them and it didn't solve the LED screen issue. Using the reset button didn't work either. So I returned it to Amazon for a refund. Amazon was good in that they prepaid the return for me. The second unit of the original purchase worked fine.
The replacement unit that Amazon sent to me works fine. So of the 3 units sent to me, one failed and two worked as designed. Order if you want, but keep your fingers crossed that you get a working unit.

I ordered two of these based on the feedback others left that reliability of product was not so good. One of the two would not power up on battery power. I found that I needed to slightly bend the tang that touches the battery so it would make contact.
The second one worked fine out of the box BUT completely died within 24 hour of use.
Amazon was exceptional in its return policy as a new replacement was immediately shipped and a postage paid return label provided online.
Quality of product is lacking but Amazon return policy is exceptional.
PS. The replacement unit arrived within a few days and it has worked perfectly.
I recommend the product but you should buy a spare just in case of failure. At the price paid , buying a spare is not a big deal.

I purchased 3 of these units after having no success with other brands purchased at the large hardware stores. I've had them plugged in for about 3 weeks with no failures. I recommend these units because they are reliable and not complicated. The timer only allows two off and on times to be set. That works out great if you are like me; need one to come on before sun rise and one setting to come on after sun down. Others had as many as 8 different off and on settings, but, that was of no value since they didn't work. These timers also have two power outlets; one timed and the other works all the time (as a pass-thru). I did not see any of the hardware store variety where you can plug switched and unswitched devices in. The best timer I've run across (after trying many others - and returning them).Customer Review: Fairly easy and works with one minor problem

Minor problem:
Thought the batteries were dead as it wasn't working. Inspecting the battery holder again noticed the two metal tabs on either side could be push in. After pushing them in just a little put the batteries back in and the timer worked. Must not have been making contact until then.
Review:
First you set the time. Three buttons for that. The forward and back are used to change it.
Then you select program 1, 2, 1&2, or off and then edit the on and off times for whichever one you want.
Make sure the display shows the program you want to have working and that's pretty much it.
If you press on the front cover you can quickly turn what's plugged into the timer outlet on and off at will.
Well worth it.

This device is simply the digital equivalent of the old manual type of light timer. You get an on and off time that is the same every day. True, there are two programs, but you can only run one or both at a time. So you are still stuck with lights coming on at one or two times, same every day. A better timer would randomly turn lights on and off at different times of the night, (some do this, but aren't "smart enough" to stay off during daylight hours). Another reasonable option would be to be offer a different time setting for each day of the week, so that the lights would not come on at exactly the same time every night. Anyway, I guess I should have read the description more closely. I hope this review makes the situation with this device clearer to YOU!
