This is a great lamp timer. It's capable of turning a lamp on every day based on your telephone area code coordinated with sunset times, and adjusts itself accordingly each day. There's a switch for daylight savings time. It has a battery back-up and doesn't have to be re-set when there's a power outage. The operation of the timer is completely silent, There are no dial noises or clicks when the lights come on. It also has an untimed outlet built-in, so it doesn't render one socket in an outlet inoperable. The construction seems sturdy, and the unit is certified by an electrical rating agency.Customer Review: I thought this would be easy, 1 Stars
From the day I received this timer, I had difficulty with it. Originally, I thought it sounded like a great product and easy to read. Yes it is easy to read. However I had great difficulty programming the timer. At first, I thought I was doing it incorrectly. But, what worked one time, didn't work the next time using the the same procedure and instructions.I would never buy this product again nor reccomend it to my friends. I even hesitate to buy anything similar, especially if made by Sylvania. Now I have it over two, possibly 3 years and it had stopped working 6 months ago.

Not difficult to setup and get running. The important stuff like how long does it last, can it be counted on to keep time, etc., are all unknown right now. It seems ok but only time will tell if it keeps telling time correctly and on time.
April 5, 2011 Not too soon anymore. Perfect, still working. Changes to or from Daylight savings in an instantly. Been in constant service 24/7 since purchase. At the time when I got bugged to write a review, the automatic bugging I guess, I thought it was then or never. I know better now. If I were reviewing now I would give it ***** 5 stars.

I got a pair of these for the space heaters in my kids' bedrooms. They never remember to turn them off, and I didn't want the huge electric draw when they weren't being used, so this seemed like the logical solution. They were very easy to set up; the first one took me about 5 minutes and the second only 2. I like how it's made to be able to manually turn the device on and off by just pushing in on the door to activate the button behind it. I highly recommend this for anything that's got a high draw, such as space heaters, they can definitely handle it and work as advertised.Customer Review: SYLVANIA SA130 LAMP TIMER

Even in this HIGH TECH time, it is easy to find lots of junk that passes, on the surface, as something smart and reliable. SYLVANIA got this right. They are the KING of lighting and still leading innovators
in new energy saving products. I bought five of these and they work beautifully and are simple to operate. They are "astral" so if you go away for long periods of time and the time changes into daylight savings or visa versa, the timer will update that. Keep this in mind when saetting times. A bargain for the money in a sea of worthless crap.
