Tools and Hardware Reviews of Sylvania SA130 15 Amp Digital Lamp TimerCustomer Review: Exellent Summary: 5 Stars
Im generally not a person who often leaves reviews, But Im making an exception here. I purchased 2 of these, and am about to get two more. As another review stated, Slyvania got this one right. Its about as easy to use as a timer could possibly be, has two programmed modes, no mechanical dials to try to figure out, daylight savings time accomodation and an untimed plug on the other side. Simple, accurate and easy. If I had any gripe, it would be that there isnt a 3 prong plug, but a dollar adapter fixes that. Great product at a decent price.
Customer Review: Terrific Summary: 5 Stars
Put in the 2 (included) coin batteries, set the time, set the programs, and it's good to go. Easy to set & program. Easy to switch between programs (or to inactivate the programs). And the manual override (to turn the current on or off) is sooooo easy - just push on the front cover, and it pushes the on/off switch inside (no need to unlatch the cover). Really excellent - by FAR the best timer I have seen, and worth the money. Also handles up to 1800 watts - so can use it to control a space heater (many lamp timers max out at 300W).
Customer Review: Works well, except for 2 issues... Summary: 3 Stars
The product works well...though it appears to have a weird issue.
I noticed that when I was programming the units (held in hands) and touched the electrical prongs, the unit would reset or go into a weird state. I don't know why... Perhaps they are meant to be programmed while in an electrical socket...(?)
Also the units do not appear to work with dimmers that I have for many of the lamps around the house.
Otherwise they appear to be pretty good units.
Customer Review: Disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
I was really looking forward to using this product, however, I had to return it. The led readout was difficult to read, so it was impossible to set the timer. The problem was that the numbers all had shadows -every number looked like it could be 2 or 3 other numbers. I tried new batteries, used the reset, held it at all different angles and numbers were still unclear. This may have been a defective unit. I did not order a replacement. Still looking for another brand of digital timer.
Customer Review: Excellent timer, good price Summary: 5 Stars
Solidly constructed, easy to program, large readable display, general sense of quality. Even comes with a pack of batteries for backup. Programming was intuitive and straighforward -- and I didn't have to crack open the manual.
Best of all, it is thankfully silent and doesn't groan, click, and pop like my previous mechanical timer did (before it died). Also comes with a lifetime warranty.
Excellent product, nicely done.
